thanks for the information but i don't think I would worry about it since the Mercedes-Benz spokesman said the automaker did not "feel this represents a risk in real-world situations, only in this clinical situation."
I will let them fix whatever needs fixing on the next service/oil change.

That's pretty definitive to me. NTSB requires recalls for safety-related defects. And this will almost certainly qualify.

Well the link says airbag "module". I'm wondering if that is related to the common SRS warning light that comes on. Mine came on about a month ago. My service write-up was as follows:

I wonder if the problem is the airbags do not deploy. My car took a giant hit on the side, and no bags anywhere. Thankfully no one was hurt badly, just bounced around a bit, but no bags were seen. I had thought that was a good thing, but now I am concerned.

The side airbags should have deployed if the computer deemed the hit sever enough. If you have an 06, I think they were an option.

I had my service B done a couple of days ago. I asked my SA about this, and he didn't know about it and he also check if there was... nothing. I guess 05's aren't affected.

but i just got my car back from the dealer. It was leaking transmission fluid. SA said it was common on most 05 SS. same thing happen with my uncles 05. something to do with a recall on the transmission pin.

It is a true recall. They will start issuing notices beginning in March according to the NHTSA site. It only affects W203's with the sport steering wheels.
Here is a quick summary:

Going back on topic - am I correct in thinking that my 06 C280 (being a luxury model) is not affected or part of this recall because the recall only mentions a ton of sport sedans. Curious...

if it was a problem with mine how would i know? just by checking the dipstick?
