Need help with 05 LED tails!!! (URGENT)
Okay, I hooked them up and I am getting a ton of error messages. Basically the reverse lights, LED's, and turn signals don't work on either side. This is crap because I already changed the harnesses and can't put my stock lights back in. Now I can't drive my car, and if I do it will be pretty dangerous.
Please help me figure out if I made an error in hooking up the wires to the new 6 pin harnesses. What I did was just move the wires from the 7 pin into the 6 pin in the same order as they were stock.
Left side:
1 - black/yellow
2 - grey/blue
3 - black/red
4 - black/white
5 - brown
6 - grey/black
DISCONNECTED: green/white (was #2 on original 7 pin harness)
Right side:
1 - black/blue
2 - green/yellow (was left empty on original 7 pin harness)
3 - black
4 - black/green
5 - brown
6 - grey/red
Please help me figure this out so I can drive my car again!!!

Okay, Steve just emailed me and gave me these specs:
left side:
1 - green/white = fog light
2 - grey/blue = reverse light
3 - black/red = stop lamp
4 - black/white = blinker
5 - grey/black = left taillamp/parking lamp
6 - brown = ground
X - black/yellow
Right side:
1 - empty
2 - gray/yellow = reverse
3 - black = stop lamp
4 - black/green = blinker
5 - grey/red = taillamp/parking light
6 - brown = ground
X - black/blue
Maybe Steve can chime in and say if there is any difference between 05 and 06. Right now i have it hooked up steve's way and it says something about the backup lamps always being on even though they are not! I had no idea the taillights could be such a pain.

You can easily follow the contactpins of your original taillights up to the bulbs they are powering up...it is easy to spot which contactpin goes where and it shouldn't be too had to do the same with the aftermarket taillights...
Since you had the ground side of the taillamps powered up - they might already have fatal damage - I don't know how much those lights can bare...

Whew!!! Followed ekimpay's template and everything works fine now with no error messages. Both bottom brake lights work, and unfortunately the LED's work as running lights (as expected). Anyone know how to make these function as the OEM ones on S/CL class (LED lights only when braking)?
Steve, I see what you are saying. I guess I got lucky and these still work - but no doubt the quality is junk compared to the OEM lights. Its sort of a tradeoff, looks for quality. Too bad we can't have both. Aesthetically these lights look real nice, but obviously they are not up to MB standards from a design perspective.

Two of the wires got stuck and I had to actually cut and splice them.
Does anyone know if its better to solder them, use a splice connector or any other method? I think soldering would be best for durability, but let me know if there is a preferred method. Right now they are just taped until i decide a permanent method.

get new pins and CRIMP them - there is a reason why MB does not solder them either
015 545 04 26 if you need a pin for a thin wire or 013 545 78 26 if you need a pin for a thicker wire

for those of you who who switched the 7 pin to a 6 pin and remove it without a tool...possibly a small screwdriver.....how do you remove the clip inside which hold the wires in places. is it best to remove it from the front (with numbers facing you~7 on the left 1 on the right? OR remove it from the back?
would the clip be above the wire, right side of the wire, below the wire? Lastly, would you push away or towards the wire? Is the clip part of the wiring or part of the plastic housing?
Advanced thanks!

however, if you're refering to the clip (as in the metal pin), it is crimped to the wire. facing the front, the notches are on top & bottom. i've used 2 jeweler's screwdriver to flatten them and push back (towards the wire harness).
hoping i understood your question ...

2 notches -- top & bottom. for the top, you push down to flatten the notch and push up for the bottom notch. it takes a lot of wiggling for the first one to come out, but once you get it out, you'll have a better idea how.
btw, check your email.

Never saw this thread. Wow, props to ekimpay for putting up the wiring schematic. Good job, Mike.
I think this'll help me tremendously when I re-wire (trying to get the two running lights functioning, without losing the rear fog).
Although, all of this will have to wait for my new taillights. I'm taking off the LED taillights. The right side LED's finally started to burn out and now it only has a few left...LOL.

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...=pin+connector
The part is:
6pin taillight connector: 037 545 35 28 - you will need 2 of these
It cost about $5 each and came from Germany. It took about 1 week to get as it has to go thru customs.
