Latest : M271 manifold received today from mgheaders

Gentlemen,

I received my m271 manifold today which I purchased from mgheaders, was amazed with the quick arrival of the item. Immediately, I went to my mechanic to have it retrofiited and then proceed with the dyno.

Stay tune as I have pics taken during the installation as well as the dyno gains.

From the thread " I was smoked by a C200 kompressor with the same engine M271"... there were 2 different pics...

orginal from slkfans with wrap...
then the reply from mgheaders with the stainless unit... looks like a smoother exhaust flow...nice welds.

Can you show pics post-install on the new ones (mgheaders) without wrap?
How do they fit? How was the install?

Sorry for the slips, I forgotten about the flash card reader which I left in the office in order for me to extract them out to my hard drive. Ok, let's get down to business.

I ordered the M271 manifold from mgheaders and shipping was as fast as lightning. It cost me $650 (USD) plus $20 USD for the freight cost. Here are some of my snapshots taken on the header at different angle.

I am getting excited as soon as I received them. I brought it to my mechanic as I am not really a "hardware" chap. I have the stock M271 header fitted into my vehicle so that everyone will have a better view to uninstall it.

Here is a comparison between the M271 header from mgheaders and the stock header.

Installation looks simple but I guess you ought to have the right tools. The mechanic dismantle the screws that connects the stock manifold to the 1st catalytic converter.

Next, the mechanic removed the screws of the heat shield that is attached to the side of the engine chamber just above the stock manifold.

Moving on, after removing the heat shield, he began to remove the screws that connects the stock manifold 4 inlet pipes to the engine chamber. There are 8 screws, 2 screws are dedicated to each inlet pipe.

The new M271 manifold is inserted to the 8 screws attached to the engine chamber which serves as a guideline.

Now this comes the interesting part. DYNO NUMBERS !

I had my dyno done on my vehicle (200 kompressor) with the stock manifold on the following perfomance kit :

1. Kleemann M271 boost kit (Pulley + K-Box)
2. Spearco Intercooler

Results : rwHP 156.85, Torque : 224.10 Nm

Now, with the M271 header from mgheaders

Results : rwHP 173.48, Torque : 264.75Nm

One thing for sure is that the exhaust flow is much efficient as before and I felt the torque especially when you floor it down to accelerate.

Anyway, I am pleased and satisfied with the headers.

You guys are forgetting that the headers + cat on U.S. version M271 headers are a "one-piece" design. Impressive nonetheless. Time for you guys to check-up on the other forum, updates have been posted.

Slkfans,

Having the new header kick in, have your star diagnostic re-initialize the air/fuel parameters and reset the adaptation. Let the control unit to re-adapt the new parameters. When this is done, have a dyno run. You will see some gains, better than what you have with your current dyno.

Flip - I like how you roll... thats why I was asking about the flange work before... It didn't look like my stock manifold at the bottom.. I assume that is the cat one-piece you discribed... I will check the other site...

Link?

How about posting the link so we can all see it?

Do they make a header for the C230K Coupe? I have an 02 with the 2.3 liter engine. This is the M111 I think.

The infamous other forum (rofl).

http://www.mbklasse.com/forums/

In the Parking Lot.

You may have to register in order to view though... not much more I can say, literally. Don't worry, you'll find what you're looking for. But don't you guys also check out club202 or benzworld every once in a while? Plenty of other MB resources out there - though admittingly, MbWorld is huge (MbKlasse is specifically and primarily for W203 coupes and sedans).

your stock header looks like it's an adapter flange away from being a good start to a turbo kit : )

thanks for the pix

I need to get more comfortable about the solution for integrated cat and the 2 oxygen sensors... I love the full-stainless construction, but want an oem fit, not to mess-up anything by manipulating the O2 sensors.

Unless there are sufficient interest with this header. The forum member "slkfans" ordered a header to cater for his RHD. We do have a header for the LHD vehicles equipped with the metallic cats and a downpipe. Estimated price is US$850.

Can you please post some pictures of those? Here in the US, the cat is built into the manifold, so for $850, that includes the cat or no?

I will get some pics of the header with the cats enclosed so that everyone has an ideal of how it looks first thing tomorrow. We are on a huge time difference here, past midnight here....

$850 would include the header as well as the cats

waiting patiently

Does the header for LHD cat/downpipe bolt up to the collector or is it one piece all welded together? Also are the O2 sensor fitments located near the same area as OEM?
