what year is your car?

drex (drexappeal) actually tested these springs before they went into production. I originally was going to go for these, but I wasn't sure how much they'd lower my 05 by so I didn't go for it anymore.

good luck and let us know what happens!

for springs most ppl use h&r and some have to cut the front coil to match the rear ride height. that is true, haven't heard or know anyone who have used tein springs.

Well, since they used my car for R&D on the 230 K SS, I guess I'll chime in.

The S-Techs should be pretty good. What model do you have? I suggest updating that in your signature or in your profile, so that people will know what to tell you.

Basically, going from the 230 sport springs to S-Techs won't be that much of an upgrade, but it'll drop your car probably around 1 inch. That's only if you have a 230 SS. If you've got a 240 or 320 luxury, it'll be significant. If you've got a 320 SS, I'm not sure.

Either way, combined with the KONI shocks, you'll be alright and will probably be happy.

i have a 02' C240....sorry about that...im pretty new to the forum! i was gona get a 240sx but the car seemed like it was gona tear apart so i got a c240 instead. the car is pretty smooth and comfy but im looking for more power! but i know i wont get much out of this engine. anyways
i ordered the tein s tech springs for a really good price. 220 Canadian from a local authorized dealer. according to the website it should low about 1inch. I bought my koni shocks for 350 used for 8 months from a friend. i havne't put it on my car yet because my mom came over from Hong Kong and she'll drive my car. Don't want her to scratch anything. When i still had my 02' RSX, she screwed up the front lip soo bad.
i was on my balcony watching her park. she went right into the parking block thing i was like oooooh sh*t. hahah well she paid for my new lip + paint. installing it next week cuz shes leaving...then putting my new rims on!

are my shocks cheap? 350 for used...? installing the shop said it'll cost 120 bucks....i duno if thats cheap or not. anyways il put it on sooon and let u guys know how it goes...because the shop guy told me tein springs are gaining a good reputation...they are very reliable on japanese cars that they started making them for euro cars. im not sure though thats why im trying heh

Are all the prices you're quoting Canadian or US dollars? i know you said the springs you got for 220 Canadian, but not sure about the others.

I don't know what the conversion is to US dollars, but if you could post the US $$ amount, I could tell you realistically if you got a good deal or not.

everything is in CDN
1 dollar USD = 1.13 CDN
you guys can do the math
but il do one for u guys
220CDN plus tax is 250 CDN
so 250 CDN for the springs = 221 USD

Hold up, you're asking for advice and then telling us to do the math? Good thing you actually did do it!...LOL

Okay, so if you're looking at $221 for the springs and probably around $300 for the shocks (used)? I'd say that you are over paying, unless the $221 would include install. $300 for Koni shocks used for 8 months? It probably would've been more worth it to buy new ones for not that much more.

Sorry, but that's not the greatest deal. It's okay, but you could've easily gotten better.

$810 USD just for the shocks? OMG, Sell them!

You can get the TEIN Basic Coilovers for the amount you paid for the combination of those shocks and TEIN S-Tech's (when you get them).

Sell the shocks and look for a company to sell you the TEIN BASIC coilovers. It'll cost the same amount and you'll have adjustable ride height.

Still 810 for new shocks is only a little less than what could also land you the TEIN Basic coilovers.

IMO. i dont think coilovers were necessary....coilovers are adjustable...and they are pretty stiff compared to the koni adjustable shocks....the ride is perfect....in cornering...the stiffness is way better...and daily driving...the ride is really comfy...i set the shocks at medium-hard....koni allows the car to have that stock feel while lowering!...this setup is pretty good..my friends lowered their car with stech springs...u can feel the ride is very harsh and bouncy...the shocks are really important!

yepp ride is perfect on mine...
koni adjustables + tein s tech is a good combination
i recommend it to people who dont need coilovers.
i just need to lower it...and height is perfect...i will post pix next week wen i get the car washed.
the ride on tein basics is too harsh....too bumpy...i wouldnt need that...not like im gona take my c240 to track or sth
and the basics suck...IMO...and some of my friends who have jap cars think so at least....the flex with edfc is good tho....

topekoms, glad it worked out for you! The amount that it lowers a 240 is much more of a difference than a 230K SS or coupe would be. Glad you are happy with it.

Type Flex w/ EDFC are awesome! Cousin has them in his EVO VIII MR. Very nice ride.

thanks for sharing man! it looks good! hopefully they settle some more though... at this point, they look to be at almost the same height or even higher than the 05 and newer sport sedans.

Since you've got a 240, I'd say they will settle a little bit lower. When did you get them installed? Another thing to consider is, did you change the rear spring pad? I believe the stock 240/320 (non-sport) has a much bigger spring pad (#4, I believe). Changing the spring pad to a #2 or #1 will drop the rear a little more. As for the front, it'll probably settle, but you'll still most likely have more of a gap in the front than the rear.

No matter what, looks much better than the OEM ride height with the fist size wheel well gap! I say you made a good choice.

Thanks Drex - got them installed yesterday. Didnt change any of the pads. but i'm content with how low the rear is. But having the front springs settle a lil bit more would be perfect. 1/4-1/2 an inch and i'd be a happy camper.

At most, I'd guess they'll settle 1/4 inch (if it settles more, that's even better). Since you just had it lowered yesterday, I'd definitely expect them to settle a little more within the next week. Either way, looks much better than stock!
