Instead of buying a sprint booster and losing the ability to lightly accelerate when you want to, just push the damn pedal 3/4 of the way down! Same as having a sprint booster, you just have to push the pedal further. This way when you want to get some decent gas millage you can accelerate slowly. With the sprint booster it becomes harder to do that.
After having one for over two years then selling it to the person making the review. You are so off target on this one all I can do is

Exactly. There's way to many good reviews/positive feedback about the SB to write it off like it's a Tornado or something.

I don't own one, yet, and if I felt less than completely happy with it plenty of forum members wouldn't mind picking it up slightly used...

I must add that it definitely not the same as just pushing the pedal down 3/4, it definitely makes the car more lively. I've been driving around in 'W' all day today, on Russell's advice, and it definitely helps smooth things out if you want to 'grandma' around. With the tranny in 'S' and ESP off, you can definitely put a smile on your face . To be honest, my only real concern is how much of a hit in gas mileage I'm going to take with it on - this is supposed to be our economical around town car ...... But, it's definitely a lot of fun!!!

It's so easy to put on/take off, worst case I might leave it off for putting around, and then whip it on if I feel like having a little fun. Right now I'm liking the idea of putting around in 'W', and being able to switch to 'S' and take ESP off before the light changes, if desired . But I'm an older, responsible adult, so I don't do that too often. I'll report back on this thread with gas mileage in a few weeks or so. Cheers!

I had the sprint booster on my 05' C230K, and the first impression was "wow". At the light, i saw an STi next to me and revving his engine. It's game ! When it's green, i took him by 1 car length, and by the next block, I'm 3 cars ahead. On the highway, I lined up with a 996 and went from 100 - 200 run. I took him by 5 car length at the end of 200 km/h.

Good job man. There's tons of report from asia stating that it's just a device that imitates more throttle position. If sprint booster does yield more hp, let's see some timing, IAM, fuel, or even KC value change on the map.

It doesn't improve anything but throttle response. No change in power whatsoever. However, it gives the power you already have, but gives it to you quicker.

OK, I guess I'll try one more time ... It makes the car more lively. It's not the same as merely pushing the pedal down more, they're changing the transfer function of the gas pedal (feels like they're putting a lead network in, for you control types). Yes, it 'imitates more throttle position', but it does so in a controlled way.

As MANY people, and the manufacturer state themselves, NO more HP/TQ. It has nothing to do with tuning the ECU. But it DOES make you car drive more 'spirited', especially off the line.

bwco - I qualified that little episode with the Neon by saying that we only got up to ~45, and noticing what a crappy driver he was. The point was that I had him off the line easily, which I don't think would have been the case without the Sprint Booster. Have you even tried one yet ? I actually bought one and am trying it, hence my feedback. Didn't you yourself make a remark on here about not believing everything you see on the internet? That's why I bought one to try, instead of believing all those 'reports from asia'. How about buying one for yourself and trying it out? Then feel free to bash it all you want, if you still feel it's just a gimmick ... BTW young buck, you're not the only one who knows how to tune ECU's. Some of us have been at this game since before you were born .

R2D2 - can you g-tech your car for, say, 0-50 (or 0-40) times, with and without the SB? That would be very interesting!! 0 to ~40 sure feels quicker.

mtnman82 - sorry man, if u feel offended. But sure the SRT driver sucks. But it isn't hard to believe that i could outrun all the cars that i listed (provided that the other drivers sucks). Take it easy man ! I would never buy some products like sprint booster to test it out when I know it doesn't give me more power or torque. It's easier to get a new car instead. If close to 30 is young, u must be an old dude. I'm feeling young 10 or 15 years ago, but not now. If u've done engine tuning before, you wouldn't buy into these sprint booster harness cable. If I know that C230 can't outrun a 80's cutless, I won't let my wife buy one. But since she's using the car for grocery and shopping, it's a totally fine and nice car for her. But then, take it easy, young buck !!

No offense taken, just suggesting that you actually try one (even try driving someone's car with one) before you voice an opinion publicly. Regurgitating internet trash is worthless. ECU tuning is doing something different, as you should know (or maybe not ... ). I think there are plenty on here who have done the ECU tune AND still use a Sprint Booster ... think there might be a reason??? And even if I were to have an ECU tune done (or tune myself, if there was a reasonable setup to do it with these cars), I still would consider a SB because I know what they do now. You have no clue (truthfully - not being a smart a$$). BTW, I'm not a really 'old' guy, but I have enough years behind me to keep an open mind. In time you might learn, young grasshopper ....

PS - maybe you can edit your last post so the part about the 80's cutlass makes some sense?

I had the full Kleemann kit with K box and ECU tune and still used the Sprint Booster. Oh what fun it was! Mercedes have always had a sluggish throttle response. This puts them more in the sport feel like a BMW. Plus it takes the delay away that even pushing the throttle 3/4 will not overcome. And the shifting is different to.

damn Russell that must have been nice.

as someone else asked, does anyone know if you can still purchase the SB easily?

Also does anyone know if they're compatible with the W204? I'm guessing not.

I'm probably gonna be selling mine in 3-5 months when I part the car out if anyone is looking for one.

But if u can't buy it, I may just keep it incase I get another W203 soon!

I view that to be more or less common knowledge- it's an amplifier. Less pedal movement/more touchy throttle.

For what it is, it's expensive. However- where are any of us going to get those two plastic connectors? I would have to buy both of the parts in the car (not sure what they are) THEN creat the amplifier. The amplifier wouldn't be hard to reproduce- it would be the connectors that would make it an expensive venture for me to recreate.

I installed one on my 2007 CLK350. I didn't like it initially, it does what I expect it to do but too jerky in town driving. However, I later found out the one I bought was for a 6MT car. Swapped it for the auto version and the car is much more managable, but with added zest. The throttle lag is almost gone and the kickdown on the 7G-Tronic is lot more immediate. Getting used to the throttle feel know and I'm really liking it

Coming from an E46 M3, the SB does exactly what the 'Sport' button does, only thing is that it's not switchable like that on the M3. It doesn't improve horsepower but it does spice up drivability, significantly.

This graph explains it all
