Dealership service benefits????

I am the type that likes to work on my own vehicles so I much rather do all my required services myself. The only problem I have with this is I do not want this to be an issue when it comes to resale, trade in, or warranty concerns. How does everyone feel on this? Does it matter if we do the services our self?

As long as your services are well documented I see nothing wrong with it.

I had planned on making a spreadsheet with dates and keeping all the parts and oil receipts, I had hoped that will be enough. I also think I will do my services every 10,000 miles.

I think you should make entries in the owners booklet too( in the back section).

If you’re doing the service yourself, why not change the oil every 5,000 miles?
Some may say it's not necessary But I think it's prudent. Plus if you’re concerned with a paper trail it will look good.
Just my 2 cents.

I do every 2000 or 6 months in my vette but this will be traded in after the warranty runs out so I still want to be some what cost conservative. But if i had planned on keeping it longer i would consider it.

other than getting a loaner, a benefit of going to the dealer is making your wallet weigh less. although i still have not taken in my car for service since my free service just ended at 50k, i have taken my parents car occassionally to the dealer (they sometimes have coupons that they mail us) or to an independent mechanic that deals with imports (which also have coupons).
