After only 782 miles, my first warning message!!!

Started the car yesterday and the message "ESP malfunction. Vist workshop" came up on the screen. It does not show up every time I drive the car but will come on periodically, but only right after the car is started. It has not come on during a driving session. Anyone know what this could be??? Car drives and acts fine!

The only other odd thing was that once yesterday, I started the car and could not get the geat shift lever to move out of park. Turned tha car off, then back on and worked fine.

So I guess that you never ansked for any advise in the 2,649 posts that you've made? I planned on calling the dealer on Monday but was curious if I was going to hurt something by driving it in the mean time.

I guess I was wrong in thinking that this site was around for first time MB owners to ask for advise from those that have been around a while, but I can see that unless you have some new 19"s or 20"s to show off, you're better off going elswhere. Thanks!

Sure, no problem. And when you put those stupid 20" rims on, make sure ya check in with us, all the rubbing and bumping problems should be plenty hillarious.

No most people that have a brand new car call the dealer first for problems. At least that is what I would do. Now if it is out of warranty I would ask here first.

And I had that same issue a while back. Well mine had added in that there was low output at the alternator as well. The Alternator could not give enough juice right at startup so systems did not pass there self tests properly. Once restarted it was gone and did not return until the next cold restart. Replaced the Alternator and all was well.

I will add as well that even on a Sunday MB Raodside will answer and even send a mechanic to your house free of charge. They can then check the car and of course give options on what to do with it until you can get it to the shop. I had a tech show up on Christmas Eve Night due to my Bi-Xenons not auto leveling properly, they aimed as far down as they could when turned on. This was due to the afore mentioned Alternator repair, they need to remove the sway bar to change it out and did not resynch the auto levelers after putting the sway bar back on, it has a sensor on it. We found that by unplugging the sensor that the lights defaulted to there factory aimed state and disabled the auto levelers. Now when I had this issue when in the dark and the car was un driveable that evening I did not post here first, I called roadside assistance.
