Replacing standard battery with Dry cell??

Hi guys need help here,

can you replace the standard battery on c class sedan with dry cell one. Last night my battery was flat and have to call some technician to charge the battery but he said that looks like i hve to change the battery if this morning i couldn't start my car. Guess what?? the car won't start and the worst thing is, it's not even my fault it's the dealer fault who forget to top up my baterry fluid on service A and i will have to pay to replace my battery.

THX guys

Dry cells do not have enough cold cranking amps and do not charge/discharge fast enough for use in a car. In other words, don't try it. They are also less tolerant of the voltage swings in the charging system.

2002 Mercedes c230k 6 speed
I used a Dry cell battery in my C230k coupe 3 months already, everything is still fine.
The dry cell i am using is from Hawker Energy, 16Ah type, which is only 1/4 of the factory size, and weight about 13 lbs (the factory one weight 50 lbs)!
Hawker Energy makes the best dry cell as I know.
The only problem i am facing is the battery life, It won't last as long as those large one, but i think it will last for two years at least!

Your signature indicates you drive a 2001. Batteries come with their own warranty. Much like tires, they'll pro-rate the cost. So try checking with the dealer and see what a warranty claim might do for you.

Can you tell us the part number for the battery you are using and how much I can expect to pay for one? Also, how did you mount it in the tray? I like the idea of losing 37 pounds.

Whats a dry cell battery? I used a Optima battery before in my C Class and that went ok. I think if you have a 2001 then you need to tell your dealer and get a new one put in under warranty.

It may well be out of warranty, which is 1 year in most countries. It's here in the US that we enjoy this luxury of having 3-4 year warranties (something unheard of in Europe, for example).

well actually they just change my battery for free!! which is good,
anyway the new battery looks better, its black rather than the stock white. Yeah lighter battery sounds good, may feel like 5 hp gain

C Sedan Battery

The C sedan battery is 100 Amps! Try replacing that with anything else...I can't find one yet. But I noticed someplace that the 2003 C sedan touts a new "thin film" battery!!! I wonder if it will work in my 2001 C320??
