Super quick shipping

Paid on Monday, got it today... thanks Rob. Can't wait to put it on... it'll be my first mod :p Picked up a new 2007 C230 on Sunday. Here's a couple of pics... taken from a crappy camera...

I wasn't able to fully lock it all the way. I twisted it clockwise, but couldn't make it go all the way 90 degrees. Did any of you have the same problem?

The OEM star is designed to fit all current sedans. The hoods vary slightly between an E, S, C, etc., most probably in the thickness and composition of the paint topside, and underneath (Metallic vs other, etc.). This influences how far the lock can be turned.

If you could turn it completely, then a certain number of stars would fit loosely. I test fit every WHITE STAR Flat Badge on my C, and none of them completely twist 90 degrees. So, JDM is right. As long as the lock effectively pinches the badge to the hood you are good to go.

Looking good, ikkoku!

Let's not discuss terms in this thread, please. I and a couple other members here in Dallas encouraged the Dudester to make these for limited offer here, and I know he wants to fly below the radar screen. I also know he can find homes for these stars as fast as he can make them, so the "price" is more than fair.

Please correspond directly with DFWdude if you want the full information. He doesn't bite...

All I can say is, I wish those badges would work with the coupe. They look so much better than the OEM ones. If you ever get around to trying to do something for the coupes, I'm in for one.

The problem with the coupe is:

1) There's no through hole in the hood like on the Sedan
2) More important, there is an unsightly "dirt ring" just under the outer edge of the regular Coupe Badge. It's covered by this badge, but exposed with any smaller diameter one. My assumption is no one will want to stare at that ugly ring.

Dirt ring ?

Can the dirt ring be cleaned off or is it permenantly there? I'm guessing that it's permenant and that the badge you have is smaller than the OEM coupe badge.

Also I'm thinking that the outer ring you use from the upright star can't easily be removed from it's mounting bracket and attached to the mounting bracket for the OEM coupe badge.

Let me know if I'm right.

Yes the dirt ring is permanent, more pronounced on some coupes than others. See picture at bottom on how it would look. Not good, IMO.

You are right. I would have to mill away the entire mount from behind. That would take a great deal more time (read, cost more).

is it just me or am i the ONLY one who preffers no hood badge at all?! I think it would be worth the $xxx to have a flat hood. no emblems, nothin. just clean. im not a fan of the flat hood emblem style. the fact that its flat/near flush is cool... but i dunno. just not too into it. i say smooth!

Well, after 136 posts and 5,700 views by members, you may in fact be the only one who prefers no badge at all. It's pretty clear badges other than the SLK badge will not work on the Coupe, either. So, can we please get back on subject here?

I'd like to see pictures of more cars with this new mod, on cars of different colors especially. Anybody with a Mars red have one of these White Star badges?

He said it uses the same locking mechanism as the original upright star (?- This seemed to be an important aspect to him). He told me if I wanted, he could get me one. I told him that I may know some other people who are interested as well. He just said to let him know.

I only spoke to him for about 30 seconds (sorry, I was running late for a meeting). I wish I could have gotten more details. I don't think I will see him again today, but I probably will in the next few days.
I'm definetely interested! Can you kindly provide more info? Thanks...

revstriker is not the right person to answer you. Please spend 20 seconds to write an e-mail to the right source for information, DFWdude@comcast.net.

Slim Pickens, I was wondering when someone would get ideas for individualizing these stars. Interesting idea!

Interesting concept, Slim. I thought it might happen sooner or later. But now I'm getting all manner of requests for custom colors on an already customized emblem.

Guys, I'm a semi-retired machinist, not a painter. I chose the White Star on the silver background to be compatible with all color cars. You're welcome to play with these all you want, but I don't have the skills (or time) to do this work myself.

That said, there is one color that I like alot...

I haven't had time to check that part # with the dealer, myself. So no problem...

Sorry, I do not have PM enabled. I need for you to e-mail me instead, at DFWdude@comcast.net. Here's the reason.

Periodically, I run into supply problems acquiring OEM Upright stars to convert. This means I sometimes have to keep lists of requests. To do this fairly, I ask folks to communicate only through my e-mail, so I can keep requests on a first-come basis, compiled in one place. I think everyone will understand this. I'll try to respond promptly. Thanks.

Dude, I like my original silver background star best, but that color background looks very nice as well. Maybe you can tell us how to individualise them, if you don't want to do them yourself?
