How Fast Have You Taken Your W203?
This was a huge shocker for me. The new Lexus LS460 which has an 8-speed transmission can do 130 mph at only 3400 rpms in top gear... On an 05 C230K SS Auto, 130 mph requires 5200 rpms.

My Max Speed: I'm going to say prolly 118..I don't think I made it to 120.
Comments: It's very difficult to try this in the Boston/North of Boston area, there's lots of cops and the roads are not very good. Because of those factors I'm a little nervous for going much faster. Although I know I'll push it sometime I wish I had a closed road to try, such as a track. Very smooth at 118. And one more thing, I love how these cars pick up so well when you're already moving at high speed.
2) I took my friend's SL 65 for a little run, and let me tell you, 100 MPH is like 30 MPH in a C class. That thing is a rocket.
3) Nothing is as fast as this: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x15...n-at-top-speed
Mike
No Speed Limiter
145 mph
I-15 southbound, no traffic for miles, no on-ramps, no off-ramps
Rode on rails !

General area: 35 minutes east of Seattle
Road: I-90
Max: 132mph on completely flat surface. I'll have to see how it goes on the long decline next time.
Also on I-90 with my GSX-R600 I hit about 155 (indicated) - could have got a tad more out of the bike but figured it was fast enough
On my buddy's Suzuki Hayabusa I hit 191 (indicated) - the scary part was that his bike is heavily modded and it had what felt like plenty of room

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Country: Greece (car bought from Germany)
MAX speed: 260+/kmh (161.56+/mph)
--------------------------------------
Speed limiter removed (ECU) + removed engine RPM limiter on 6th gear (ECU)

After 7000+rpm it is really scary (kompressor sounds too loud).
Till 240km/h it goes very smooth.

The hotel will be providing me with the transportation services. So I won't be too worried about sitting in taxis without seatbelts.
I like your idea about diamond lanes. Of course, some of the finer details must be adjusted. But overall, it's actually a good idea that is realistically feasible. You should tell Mercedes-Benz and BMW of your plan, since they would sell more cars, they would sponsor you.
I don't agree with you about I280 and 85N. At least not on the parts that I've been on. But if you're ever in the Saratoga area, we should enjoy Big Basin Road, that is if you enjoy windy mountain roads.
Highway 85 from 280 to S. San Jose is smooth, with just a slight constant curve. Perfect for flat out runs...but also so easy to get busted.
Windy mountain roads? Shoot. I used to live in Ben Lomond, on the OTHER side of highway 9, commute up to skyline, down to woodside, to Redwood city everyday. My record was 58 minutes.
I'd hit 100 mph on skyline passing Fogerty Wineries. C32 brakes got worked at that next corner! 100-40 in one second.
So, funny story. I'm on 85 near Union heading south, getting off the next exit. No traffic in front for a ways, none close to me from behind. Feeling bored, so I floor it. Long before I get to Camden, only about 1 mile, I'm bouncing off the 130 limiter. Well, that was fun. I get off the freeway at Camden, and
am at the redlight. Another car pulls up behind me kinda fast.
I see yet another car pull up behind him....hmmmm....whats that red light?
Oh Sheee-it! It's a cop! I'm gonna lose my freakin' license? Where the hell did he come from? OMG! I'm freaking out! Oh lord I promise I won't drive that fast in the USA again! Time to go to Germany.
We pull away from the light, the cops lights come on full blast,
and he pulls the GUY BEHIND ME OVER!!
Ha, OK, so no more 130 mph runs for me.
I had to say a thankyou prayer that night, and pray for the guy who got pulled over instead of me.
Likely the cop was sitting on the onramp at Union.
I had already passed the ramp when I decided to punch it.
I was actually quite amazed how quick it got up and went.
65-130 to zero in less than a mile.
So, the cop would have just seen tail lights in the distance moving VERY fast.
The guy behind me was going a little fast when he came up behind me, so the cop thought that was his man. With upgraded suspension, and pulley, you just don't feel like you're going that fast.
Did you enjoy your cab ride in Bangkok?
Ha ha ha ha!!!
Hell the Thai government was providing me with transpo services, didn't stop 'em from driving like lunatics.

I feel sorry for the guy who got pulled over. Another reason not to speed, someone else may take the blame.

It's too much of a risk, like I said,
"lose my license and all that jive, I can't drive 55"....
85 from 280 to 101 is rough, and no you wouldn't want go much over 90 if that.
Just not a road you'd want to go fast on. The other side I was talking about
is only about 10 years old, and smooth as a baby's bottom. And as wide as yer ol' ladies'...he he...just kidding.

I still remember the tow truck turning the corner as I saw it go away. That was in 1979...still stings.
