How Fast Have You Taken Your W203?
130mph and daily autoban driving is 90 to 100mph
I'm gonna hate coming back to the states because this car cruises very nicely at 100mph+

2007 CLS550 Test Drive

Sunny California
130+MPH
I hit 120 almost every morning on my way to work. The car is very stable at 100+ speeds. I take the 241 toll road to the 133. There's a nice hill where you can see almost all the way down to the 5. It's about a 1.5 mile stretch. At 4:30 a.m. I go from Rancho Santa Margarita to Garden Grove. My record time was in my 911 26.1 miles in 17 min. The day after I tried to break that record and had a motorcycle cop pull up next to me at about 120MPH. He indicated with his index finger that I needed to slow down and then proceeded onto the 55 north. Scared me out of speeding for a while.
W Cole, I hit 156 in my buddy's CLS coming home from an Angel game a few weeks ago headed south on 241 after portola. It's a perfect stretch for a good "road test". That car is real smooth at those speeds. It was sweet passing a 996 like it was standing still.
max speed: 130mph (limit)
comment:Engine sounded great, Supercharger whine was terrific. Just got new tires, car felt stable. But alot of wind noise.
I hope one day they have diesels for the California, USA market. Currently, there are very few diesels here (they have to come from out of state only as used vehicles) because of the very strict emissions standards they have in California.
After test driving a E320 CDI (2005 model year), I have to say that diesel cars are becoming nearly as enjoyable to drive as petrol powered vehicles. The only difference is that it's less responsive and the RPM range is not as broad so I'll bet when cornering, the gear shifts might be a bit tricky. But otherwise, as a daily driver vehicle, diesel is more than sufficient.
Country: USA
Maximum Speed: 100 mph
Location: NYC Lincoln Tunnel / and Garden State Parkway
Comment: Only did this once at those locations, didnt push it, areas had minimum traffic. Next time ill hit the track.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Country- Kalifornia
Top Speed 130
Comments: Was still pulling hard, well below Reline, but then...hit the limiter.
Then of course, this car is rated at over 150mph in Europe.
Felt very stable (with stiffer springs and sways, stock were crap, not good for going fast, don't try it!) but then it always feels stable. Wind barely has an effect, unlike a japanese car that wants to get blown off the road.
It's pretty easy to hit 100 -110 when passing without even realizing it, like on 280 out of SF.
Highway 85N between Cupertino and South San Jose is flat, smooth and wide, doesn't have the pavement pitching this way and the that, or huge potholes like most of the freeways in CA these days, with really really wide sweeping turns. Even at 130, you don't feel like you're going that fast.
Until you head for a ramp!
3am is a good time. Not many cars on the road.
Still....you could lose you license if caught. I only did it a couple times.
The rest of the time I use the ticket control feature. It's called cruise control.
Keeps my heavy foot off the pedal! And brings mileage close to 30 mpg on trips.
Too bad we don't have a better system. When I'm elected governor, diamond lanes will become express lanes. Minimum speed 100 mph. After you complete a driving class, and put a sticker in your back window to show you and your car are qualified.

Country: Thailand
My Max Speed: 139 MPH (222KM/H)
Comments: Bouncing off VMAX (225KM/H), felt a bit light, but then again it's a small car, I'm sure it'll feel safer at that speed in an S-Class.

You have to check when you get in a cab to see if it even has seatbelts!
The hotel will be providing me with the transportation services. So I won't be too worried about sitting in taxis without seatbelts.
I like your idea about diamond lanes. Of course, some of the finer details must be adjusted. But overall, it's actually a good idea that is realistically feasible. You should tell Mercedes-Benz and BMW of your plan, since they would sell more cars, they would sponsor you.
I don't agree with you about I280 and 85N. At least not on the parts that I've been on. But if you're ever in the Saratoga area, we should enjoy Big Basin Road, that is if you enjoy windy mountain roads.
Country: USA
Max Speed: ~97mph
Comments: LA traffic sucks. I think you guys are nuts hitting those top speeds. But then again, I'd do it if I wasn't so worried about the police. Glad to know how stable the car is at high speeds though.
after its made sure people driving in the left fast lane are not the slowest people on the freeway. i hate people who do that.

And many of them didn't have seatbelts either. Then again that was in 1993,
doing work for for EGAT (Electrical Generation Authority of Thailand) .
There's a good chance you'll arrive in the middle of the night....
ha, the ride from the airport is always a hair raising experience at around 4 am, when the streets are empty.
The thing is, that the people have their own rythm....you'll see what I mean,
definately don't drive yourself. It's a amazing place. The people are wonderful. Buddah and hookers...together again.
Take the Klong tour, and if you have time sail up river to the ancient capital.
Be sure to haggle if you buy stuff. It's an insult not to.
As far as highway 9, I used to live over the hill, and drive up 9, then down Skyline (35) every day, as part of my normal commute. So nice the way people pulled over to let me pass! I could hit 100 on the straight, passing
Fogerty winery. The AMG brakes definately got used on this drive.
85S from 280 is smooooth, and good place to take a hi - speed run safely.
But obviously, you can still get arrested at that speed.

When I was in Rome three months ago with family, we hired a car (not from the hotel but from an internet website of which the name has escaped me) to shuttle ourselves and our luggage from the airport to the hotel. It was a W210 E270 CDI Elegance. Very excellent car, the diesel was quite comfortable and relatively smooth. The car was also unique in my opinion because it did not have leather seats, which in my opinion did not detract from the car at all. The cost was quite reasonable too, if I and my travel companion had taken the train, it would've cost 20 Euros per person. Thus, at a 45 Euros for the car (which can seat 4 passengers), this is much better than taking the train. Plus, my hotel wasn't exactly nearby the train station.
While in Italy, I was very unfamiliar with how they drive. There are people crisscrossing each other with their cars and motorbikes. A somewhat frightening experience to look at. However, they seem to have their own system. While in Rome, I stayed that the Rome Cavalieri Hilton hotel; great hotel, I highly recommend it if you ever plan on going to Rome. Be sure to rent the rooms on the executive floor which allows you access to the excellent lounge. Voss brand water, various green and black olives, full bar (I am under 21 so this means little to me, although I am aware that you can drink at the age of 16 in Italy), different types of proscuitto, etc. I could almost live there.
I'm quite familiar with the concept of haggling and I'll be sure to employ it while I'm there. Prior to going to Thailand, I will explore the possibilities of the Klong tour you recommended. While in Thailand, I plan to acquire silks (sheets and table cloths), antiques, and to have suits made there (I hear that many Presidents of the United States and the Secret Service agents in protection have their suits made in Thailand). During my stay at the hotel, I will probably not always use their car and I may hire a taxi instead. Hopefully they'll have seatbelts.
I rarely am in the Hightway 85 and Highway 9 area. I guess I should go to Santa Cruz more often. Come to think of it, there is a restaurant my epicurean side wishes to experience in Santa Cruz. The only time I get close to that area is when I'm at the Los Gatos car dealership when they have some rare automobile. For me, the only smooth roads I encounter are the I880 South from Fremont to Milpitas. They're repaving much of the road so it's smooth for the time being. On much of I280 in the San Jose Cupertino area, there's a lot of bouncing up and down on the road because the road has these longitudinal grooves in it which annoys me somewhat since the car has that continuous thumping sound.
