New BMW 335i Coupe... Not bad.
Sorry if ya'll already discussed this car, I just found out about it:

Looks good AND has a 300HP twin turbo six cylinder... Anyway, looks like really good competition to our C350s. I still don't like bimmer interiors though.

The 3 is the least offending of the Bangle abortions. I want to see the convertible. If they go folding hardtop maybe that will be enough to get one on the new CLK. If not, maybe another BMW in my future.

Lexus (toyota), MB, Infiniti, Acura, all have larger displacement 6-cylinders that produce more HP than even the newest BMW powerplants.

With two twin turbos imagine what just a chip upgrade could do !. The old Audi S4's with the TT 6cylinder were so easily tunable just cause you could put the boost up through the ECU.

Totally OT, but is anyone else getting tired of hearing about how great the M5 is?

Oh well...another ugly german car. VW and BMW will have lots of company when MB rolls out the Acura C-Class design in a few months....

Nobody mentioned how quickly BMW M3 cars burn out and have to have large drivetrain parts replaced.
In terms of quality, both are quite evenly matched, they're both pretty bad. According to J.D. Power and Associates, BMW scored a better score in lack of small problems than Mercedes. Ironically, Jaguar beat Mercedes as well.
Now, before we start spiraling into the Mercedes problems, I do have to say one thing. Mercedes, in general, still looks much better than BMWs do today. BMWs of today look a bit weirder, to say the least. Their sharp creases enhance the muscular structure of the car but reduction in curvatures makes it look almost too masculine.
Keep in mind, in the long run, Mercedes-Benz vehicles last longer (drivetrain and transmission wise). I would say Mercedes-Benz is a better investment for those planning to keep their cars for a long time. However, in the short run, BMW might be a good answer.
That's my two cents.
