I'm sure it's detachable. Secondly, the owner seems to be a member of Greenpeace or the car is owned by Greenpeace themselves.

I suppose the implication is that car is extremely wasteful. I always considered my 4 cylinder C230k to be rather fuel efficient, especially compared to most other cars and trucks on the road here in the US. Hmmmm...

does no one see greenpeace on the car? it's a company car, no one in the right mind would do that. it's to get attention and it obviously worked. still pretty messed up.
