Stiegemeier claims 15 hp from this mod. Another forum member (emrliquidlife) has this mod and says it increased his mid-range power. I have my Stiegemeier ported supercharger at home and ready to install, but it'll be a week before I can get to it. I'll try to do a dyno afterwards and will post when done.

From what I recall the m111 supercharger is easier to access than the m271. Isn't that the case? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yup - they told me that they're doing more Eaton M45s lately. They did mine and Emrliquidlife's supercharger.

I don't know if the M111 supercharger is easier to access than the M271 or not. I'm kind-of thinking the M111 is easier to access. For those M111 folks, don't forget the supercharger gasket when doing the job - around $9.00 from MB, and the intercooler gasket (made from neoprene) is another $13 or so.

I have pics at work of the two engines, so I'll take a look tomorrow. From what I recall, this is a much more daunting task (to remove the supercharger) on the m271.

Yeah, but your intercooler looks (and works!) better than that one.
You never cease to amaze with all of the images you post.

This is a mod I have done, and I have been very pleased with the results. Much better midrange punch, an awesome supercharger whine, and about 2 more MPG on avg. Heck, I have gotten up to 33.3 mpg with the M111.

The work on the M111 is easy. Hardest part would likely be the patience to put the intercooler clips on right. Only possibility of damage is overtorquing the aluminum pieces.

I have seen Drex's M271 motor, and the work looks FAR more involved. Lots in the way. The cutaway pic doesn't show the things in the way.

If anyone wants help on this, just let me know. I can walk you through it.

Yeh, those clips...arrgh.
When removing them, look vary closely at how they are positioned.
Otherwise, you will end up pulling everything apart, and spending an extra 2 hours just get it right.

Removing the SC isn't hard, but you have to know how to remove the belts and reinstall. Actually, that and the clips can be the biggest PIA.
It's about an hour to remove.

You'll need some univeral socket swivel thingies...shoot what are they called?
The bolts are at a 45 degree angle and out of the way.
Having the right tools is critical to your sanity.

Haven't done this mod yet, but likely I will be due for
rebuild soon.
While it's out, I'd also like to get the header ceramic coated, but still don't have a source for that.

From looking at the pics that I have of the m271 engine, I think it's definitely a bigger task than the m111 engine, although I can't find the pics I had of the m111 engine (for comparison sake).

In order to get the supercharger removed, I think it would have to be a top and bottom deal. You'd have to take off the top airbox and intake pipe and possibly go from underneath the car to get to some bolts.

btw...merged 3 threads talking about supercharger porting, in case people don't notice and/or want to read through old posts on the discussion.

Photos of ported S/C

Thought you guys would want to see some differances in a ported S/C

This is the backside of the S/C pre porting

Now here is a closer look at the screws

Now what Steiger sends back.

Look at that sexy beast!

Here is the gas mileage I get when I'm being REAL good.

Now, I'm voting to call this the LiquidLife mod....

That's correct, sir! Granted, your write up would only apply to the m111 owners.

How 'bout someone else step up to the plate!...LOL. My car isn't even completely done yet (still need some little touch ups, brakes and body kit). If someone wants to front the $$$ to buy another supercharger to port so I can just do a direct swap when my car goes back in the shop, I'm all for it. Otherwise, my $$$ has other priorities right now.

LOL...I was considering it, but wasn't a priority, so I didn't get it...yet...

Nah, on the real, I've gotta focus on a couple things first before I jump back into doing the supercharger mod. My car is probably Stage 2 right now, but not completely finished. Once that's good and done, I'll have to decide if I want to move into the next realm.

what are your gains on this? dyno'd? cost? thats for the m271 correct? now that its gotten my attention, i'm a lil intrigued. from what i've heard, from the factory the eaton s/c is basically tapped out on power/gains. But by doing this does it increase that fine line of engine detonation? [if you guys cant tell, im a baby about the engine mods. just get a lil weary when it comes to it i guess. guess cuz i know it'd be an arm and a leg to replace the block should it grenade] I wanna do mods with positive gains but nothing thats gonna decrease the lifespan of the motor.

LOL...Well, you "normal" m271's may not, but I sure do!...hahahaha.

There's other things that have been discussed too, but just gotta map stuff out deliberately and properly, before jumping the gun for more power.
