2006 C230 SS
Smile TEIN Basics for 2006 C230 SS

First time posting guys. I have been researching for a coilover setup. So far I have found a few solutions (H&R, KW & Bilstein). I know that the TEIN Basics will fit the W203 up to 2005 (verified by TEIN themselves). But they won't guarantee proper fitting on the 2006 C230 with the V6 engine. I'm leaning toward getting the TEIN Basics if it will fit. It looks like the best bang for the buck. I have heard so much great feedbacks about the TEIN Basics. Can anyone share any info about the TEIN Basics on a 2006 C230 SS? Any help will be great guys...

They'll fit, the MacPherson suspension in the front and independents in the rear haven't changed at all. Still a W203 . As far as the new V6 weight? They also work on the late C320s (as we've installed them ourselves many times).

Where ya from? Welcome to the boards . I know, I'm up late, but only because I'm writing up a detailed powerpoint on the mechanism of disease for Systematic Lupus Erythematosus (presentation on Monday ).

Nope, unless the V6 weighs exactly the same weight as the four cyl/kompressor, it's not going to work. The springs rates will be different for each... hence they can't guarantee them working.

Curb weights: 3550 C320, 3250 C230 '05, 3360 C240, 3405 C230 V6.

The lot and part #s on these TEINS are the same for the whole range of W203 (for the ones I've ordered that go on 230s, 320s, etc.). Please check the TEIN website as they make a kit "specifically" for C320s, C240s and C230s. Assuming you get a C240 kit to slap onto a new C230 V6.. it's a difference for 40lbs or maybe roughly 1/4th of a medium build person.

His question is about fitment upon which I say again, the design of the W203 suspension remains the same.

Thanks for the quick response Flip. Good luck on your presentation. I'm in Encino, CA. You stated that you have installed it many times before. What was the feedback from your customers?
I will be using the stock wheels for now and I wanted to drop it with about a finger length all around.
Is it possible to drop it that low? How will the ride be for that setting compared to stock? I also wanted to make sure that there will be no problems later on once the coilovers are installed. thanks again.

Thanks,

Nearly ALL of these guys so far: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/150729-tein-suspension.html

appleguy's using them with 17s, Houston will be.. sadly.. putting his 17s back on and wuzzapp states he'll be posting pictures of our SS install soon.

Since you're in Encino, CA if you're looking for a place to install these at a great price PM me, our sister shop is about a 30 minute drive from your location.

Cheers,
flip
