A bucket on wheels
question to those of you with upgraded wheels

I am looking into buying a set of 19" rims (upgrading from my stock 17's that came on my 06 c230 SS). Will my speedometer be affected? and if so how noticable will it be? And is there a fix i can get at the dealer to update the new set of wheels? TIA

There will be a chance, but very minimal, i wouldn't think any of us will notice it. If u getting 235/35 FR and 265/30, then your overall diameter will still within the range.

With 235/35's and 265/30's, you're off by like 1.something mph at 65. Take a look here if you want exacts:

I don't know if the dealer can update the speedo?

a quarter mile at a time
if you keep the OD (overall diameter) the same or very close, your speedo will see a negligible difference.

DPE is a little out of my price range. Beautiful rims, good luck on the sale

.
dont know if you know about this site, but if you put in your OEM tire size and aftermarket tire size it will calculate how much your speedo will be off...

May I know what your price range is? I may also consider trade with your 17" stock+cash from you, depending on the condition. PM me if you like to talk further.

Thanks

Black C200 Kompressor
Talking 19's

235/35/19 + 265/30/19

Only thing I've noticed after that is the engine feels just like stock, before I upgraded the pulley and Headers etc.. Otherwise, speedometer-wise, didn't notice a thing.

But after trying the calcs posted, yea I'm off by 1.someting indeed!

Glad to know this link is making its circulation on here.

FIXEDupW209, to answer your question, if you upgrade to 19's and you run what most people go with (235/35R19 F, 265/30R19 R), your speedo will be slightly off by 1-2 mph (i.e. 65mph on the speedo will be 64/63mph). I've lost a lot of mpg on side street driving (but not necessarily highway driving).

If you don't want that significant a change, you can go with 225/35R19 F and 255/30R19 R. Your rolling diameter on the tires has much less of a change from the OEM 17's, so everything should be on point to stock.

Good luck with what you decide.

Does anyone have pics of how the 225 + 255 set up looks like on the car? Does it look like much of a difference from the 265?

Also will getting 19's mess with my navigation system at all? Or will it operate as it normally would? I met a guy with an S class (w220) and he said his navigation is messed up after he upgraded his wheels.

does anyone know?

Also can the dealer update the speedo? I realised the MPG reading adn the miles left reading would be off as well. I am hoping my navigation system wouldn't be off but i fear it would.
