Unhappy Hit a Sign

Today, while driving to a friends house, I was making a turn, that is basically a 90 degree angle turn... This was just after it drizzled, so the oil + rain + w/e else on the road was out... So while taking the turn, I pressed the accelerator while leaving out of the turn, and my back end slipped... Basically ended up driving me off the road into a one of the turn signs... However, I did get lucky, in that I didn't go through the fence that was also right there... I'll post pictures tomorrow...

Damages:
1) The grille covering the fog light (passenger side)
2) Bumper: dent / color (ADDED: how much is a new bumper?)
3) Maybe back driver side tire, not really sure, but it seems to wobble
4) Steering wheel is shaky, probably because of number 3

Ouch, hope you're alright. These cars in my opinion are prone to oversteer, although some people say they've experienced understeer.

1. I think the grills that fit into the front bumper come as a set. So you might have to buy all three.
2. I expect the front bumper to cost around $2k for the part, painting, and installation.
3. The rear driver side tire or wheel? If it's the tire that's gone off, that's fine, but if you hit the wheel hard on the curb or slid into the curb with your rear wheel then you may have damaged the axle or some other components.
4. I don't know.

Good luck.

Get the bumper cover repaired....there's a chain of shops that specialize in doing the bumper covers. They're made out of plastic/rubber and even when torn they can be fixed to look like new. About $500. Just make sure what's under the cover is OK in case you need to use it again. I thought driving on slick roads was an LA problem

A box on 4 wheels
Mleskovar haha it is, especially when it rains, that why I run on all season M+S Pirellis, a bit more traction when its wet and slippery.

well your rates will go up depending on how long you've been with them and how many claims you've made in the past. I've been with my insurance company for 11 years and have had 2 claims. The first one was when I was 18 which raised it some then the other one was a year ago which didn't raise it at all. It might be worth a call to your insurance company to find out what it could do to your rates.

man, that sucks! I hope you can get everything straightened out.

and if they sell the bumper mesh in packs of left and right, since you only need the right side, I'll split it with you b/c I need the left side...

good luck!

yea i know that... but usually if it's dry and i take a turn to sharp, esp light flashes and does w/e it does... but this time, nothing happened... obv i know it can't correct everything, im not denying that... but i think it was because i only skid for such a short time, and after it my passenger side tires were in the grass, so it was more of me hitting brake and car thinking im just normally hitting brakes, when really i was sliding on the wet grass...

did you take the corner to fast? I'm just guessing that is what happened. Live and learn.

did you have your ESP off? i have a feeling you were trying to do a quick u-turn drift.....

seriousy though, i could be in the rain, on oil, turn my steering wheels all the way and floor it with ESP on and it wont whip the tail out.

probably what happened:

there was water standing in the area where you accelerated. youre tires couldnt clear all the water below the tire and thats where you lose ALL your grip. also when you start accelerating the weight distrubution moves to the back since its RWD and you lose steering power.
