Another Coupe Parked For Many Months

Well the day finally came where I would get into another accident (thank God they were all Benz's and I'm unharmed), but this time it's me who was driving. I guess my mind was wondering and before I knew it I realized there was a car parked on the side of the road. I tried to brake (which probably reduced the damages A LOT) but it was too late and the car is in pretty rough shape right now. Basically I need a new fender, hood, bumper, impact strip, and headlight.

But Wait!

These are only what appears to be damaged on the body, God knows what's going on underneath all the scrap metal. I was given an estimate of approx. $8000 worth of body damage. Here's the kicker, if I practically need a new front end why would I stick with the 2003 style?

So after some consideration, I've decided I'd like to throw on the 2006 front end on my Coupe. I found Doug's (Citron230?) old thread where he put on the 2006 front end on his Coupe after his accident which is similar to mine, but I couldn't find out if there were any fitment issues with the new front end on the 2003 Coupe. I'll be needing the 2006 bumper, halogen headlights, and foglights and I would like to know if anyone could confirm for me that these parts will go onto my 2003 Coupe without any modifications needed.

Thanks in advance for any help and please stay tuned for pictures of the damage. I'll take some once the car gets towed to the shop (it doesn't run right now).

2006 front bumper, imapact strips are bigger than the pre-facelift ones, grill ( I remember something that the pre-facelift coupes need minor modification to fit the facelift grill) clear fogs, should be the same, headlights ay, why dont u go for bix?

Yes I will be purchasing the 2006 impact strips, grille inserts and foglights along with the new bumper so no worries. I'll keep my grill the way it is since I'm not a fan of the cheese grater style yet (maybe it'll grow on my later). I just want to know if everything else on the otherside will bolt on to the car correctly. How about the bumper support or the foam in between?

I'm not financially ready to go for Bi-x yet since I will be paying for the repairs of this accident out of my pockets. I'll consider it though somewhere down the road...

sorry for what happened man, but always know that it could be worst.

about your "issue"...
well to be honest if i was in your position i wouldn't hesitate, amg front bumper all the way.
i have waited almost 1 year to have an excuse to swap my "stock bumper" to the "amg bumper" ... i got bored of waiting and i swaped them. you have here a "good excuse" to do it.

it's best looking bumper for the coupe, without no doubt.

big hug, and good luck

Thanks flave, I was considering the AMG front bumper but it's almost impossible to find a nice one up in Canada and I really don't want to go through the trouble of having to ship one in from overseas.

PM replied.

I just had a chat with the parts department at my dealer and I was told that the 2006 bumpwe will NOT fir my 2003 coupe. I was told that the entire support for the face lifted front end is completely different than my pre face lifted front end. Is this true? It would really be a shame if I won't be able to convert to the 2006 front end, could someone conform this for me please?

Also, I would like to paint the side markers silver to match my car, but I'm worried what it will look like at night when the lights go on, will the light bleed through the edges?

I'll have the pics ready as soon as the car is towed to the body shop. The owner dropped by my place today to have a little chat and to take a look at the car. The hood is fixable so that's going to save me a lot of money, I need a new fender for sure as well as a new bumper. I told him about the 2006 halogen headlights and he said they should be fine so that's a go for sure. Now I'm still kind of iffy on will there be any fitment issues with the braces, support, etc with the 2006 bumper on my 2003 Coupe. If there are then I'll most likely just stick with the stock bumper.

I'm painting the side markers, there shouldn't be any light leaking through the edges at night so those should be ok.

sorry to hear that, but I have a feeling it won't be nearly half as bad as to what happened to c_brabus's car.

Frank, what happened to c_brabus's car?

e1000, thanks a lot for digging up the p/n for me.

I really want to put the 2006 front end on my Coupe, however there still hasn't been anyone that could tell me whether or not it'll fit. I think I'll find some time this weekend to drop by some different dealers and see what they have to say.

lol - go through those threads and find someone who's done it and PM them, probably the best solution.
