Anyone lost a street race to a civic?
They add a few aftermarket performance upgrades and dust me. I need some AMG help here folks. Or some cash to buy a CLK 55 AMG and not worry. Maybe a 2002 M3?
I know I didn't buy my C230K to race too many people, but that is horrible.
Shouldn't be too hard to believe. And don't worry - you'll get used to it, as it will happen often if you challenge many people.
Do yourself a favour... just remember, you're driving a Benz, and they're driving a cheap hopped-up econobox. What's to worry about? Just don't stoop to their level by racing them.
Even you lost the race, you still driving home with a MB but not the Civic driver.
I would now like to lead us in a rendition of "we are the world".
I think that anyone driving a Civic with 200+ hp is asking for trouble. The car is simply not built for those speeds. Not a knock against Honda at all... they do what they do great - best "cheap" cars on the market. But you have to be careful about what you ask it to do - a Civic was not built to handle those kinds of speeds, plain and simple.

believe it or not it rides just as quiet/smooth as the C320 !!!!!!!!
I'm serious !
and handles pretty good even tho it has the OEM 15" plastic wheels...very nimble...I'm considering putting 17's on it which will make it ride ruffer but handle better.
Its like a beater car for me...drive the crap out of it - but don't really care about it !

You've got a Benz, if they pull up beside you to try and race, let them go, sure they'll have some pride for beating you, but later that night, downtown at the bar scene, their Civic has nothing on your C230K for sex appeal.
Kills aren't limited to street racing.
There's a commercial I think that has two guys sitting to race at a street light, with a hottie watching on the sidewalk. The guy in the luxury car just lets the street racer go and picks up the hottie and drives away. Wish I could remember what cars they were...
its a Lotus racing a Ford T-Bird
Even more to the point, the T-Bird got beat by something way better than a Civic, but I still consider the T-bird owner the real winner, the girl was a definite hottie.
A MB is for enjoyment, if you want racing, perhaps its not the right car for you!

Sorry didn't mean to crap on ur example.
P,S, Best quote from the thread and possibly of all the forum:

That doesn't say much with your example though. You ever seen the KIA commercial where these two guys come out of a night club. One guy is tryin to fit 3 hotties into his lamborghini or something to that extent. But since its only a 2 door and very compact he was having difficulty. So the guy with the KIA comes over, tells the guy he paid soo much less and blah blah blah then tells the girls, his car is a 4 door and much more comfy. Anyway, he dirves off with the 3 girls.

Why do people street race? to impress! if you wanted to street race the heavy C230K is definitely not the car to have bought, so if you're looking to impress, do it in other ways!
That was the point of my example, get your priorities straight:
1. Impress yourself.
2. Impress the hotties.
3. Impress your family.
4. Impress your friends.
5. Impress your co-workers.
...
LAST. Impress ricers.
Cause in the end even if you lose to a ricer, who are they impressing? other ricers, and do you care? so don't stoop to their level (that's my example you crapped on!
, but its all good
).
