Question How much would you pay NOW for 05 c230?

Since 06 c-class has some incentives, new prices are very competitive. well loaded ones are selling around 29.5k. (MSRP ~35k)
How much % off would you pay for a 05 similarly equipped with 12000 miles. basically a year old car.
Dealer is asking $27k and I can only come down to $25k and some change on the 05 c230. Which one would you take new one at $29k
or the 05 c230 at $25k

interest rate might be higher on a newer one and it still should offer a warranty. Thing is, if you can talk down a car salesman/woman, then your good. Go in there and attempt your best offer and if they dont want to negotiate, then simply walk. They lose the sale and you have the piece of mind knowing you weren't pressured into anything. Thats the opportunity the consumer has... You can always walk on to someone elses lot.

If you take the 05, make sure you bargain and get the extended warranty. Its about 3k for the warranty.

For such little difference why would you want used? First off, ask yourself, why is there a 1 year old car on the lot, did the dealer take it back on good faith because of a lot of problems, was it a service loaner, was it in a bad wreck and the customer didn't want it anymore, was it hit by Katrina? Second, you are losing out on the first year of warranty, some items are only covered in the first year like alignment. I say get used if the price is right and you do a carfax to see if the car was in an accident, look for areas where it may have been repainted, review the service records.

^^I totally agree with your advice but if he can get this down for in and around $25k, I would make the move buy it. Btw, a carfax report is an obligation for any dealership before they sell any car. Hey, 12,000 miles is a bargain for that price. I bought mine used for $29k (loaded) last October and it came with 13,000 miles. Play hard ball and get them down to 25 or lower. Do your homework and negotiate the extended warranty. Remember, you can always buy the warranty at a later date.

I dont think $25k used is a bargain at this point. If the new one was selling for $31k, it would be a bargain, but
for $4000 more you are getting a brand new car, with brand new warranty. You would not be the second owner when you try to sell.

I actually got a brand new one instead of the used one. The deal on the 06 brand new was too good to pass, it was almost for the used car price. I could not justify a used 2005 even with 9000 miles on it. here is a quick pic of my ride. I got black/black 06 c230 options: automatic+sunroof pkg+ power dr.pkg+siruis sat+ 6cd changer.

New Mercedes, with an E46 BMW parked next to it. Nice.

Unless the photo is reversed, that is the right turn signal! I had one just like that as a loaner last week (not with all the options you got, of course). Really nice car and it sounds like you got a great deal on it. Congrats!!

check out the bluebook website, or edmunds.com

i believe i've seen the avg. used base model msrp at 23k

the total sticker price on my 05 c230 w/ 10k miles, auto trans., lighting package, cd changer, and sunroof was 26k, sticker on the lot was 31.5k

i'm really glad i stuck to the 05 model. the specs on the newer models didn't appeal to me. sure they have more horse power, but the torque just isn't there. even the 0-60 times are faster on the 05 models AND better gas mileage.
