kamusta?

i guess you had a very merry christmas!

Umm.. the W203 is lacking a full tool kit as compared to older models. This model's C class tool kit is mostly just stuff you'd need to change the tire with (and maybe a screw driver.. dont remember). It comes in a dinky little brown (er.. beige) pouch.

Enjoy your C. What options did you get?

BTW.. not to knock on your purchase, but you're absolutely gonna hate the fuel economy you'll be getting there

hi pokerface, pinoy kaba????

well my car is kinda thirsty on gas, ive done almost 900kms so far in my first month of ownership.

as for options, its an "elegance" variant, moonroof, leather, xenon, headlight washers, parktronic, pwr seats with memory, indash cd, and cd changer, thermotronic a/c...the only things lacking are: rear window sunshade, and car alarm.

i think my tools r exactly d same as urs, only the things i need for a tire change. my previous benz had complete tools from pliers to screwdrivers, thats y i was wondering whether my c240s tools were stolen.

Nice... I wish we could get parktronic and the in-dash CD in the US. Do you have a separate in-dash and CD changer, or is it the one unit in the dash?

hello

fukien actually, but I speak tagalog. wow. First month already 900 kms.. geez.. what do you do? Drive up to Subic on a daily basis? I'm already complaining with 350km a week in Canada..

I saw a lady driving a C32 there when I went in the summer.

Too bad there really isn't any place where you can open it up and let the car stretch its legs.

What kind of fuel economy are you getting?

My uncle has an Expedition 4.7L 4x4 there.. and when I ask him how much gas is he getting given the perpetual rushhour, he siad something like 2 Litres per KM (note to the rest of us in North America.. yes, it's L/km, not the L/100KM we use)

Back to the tool kit. Yeah, I'm not sure if it's because of cost-cutting, but our 97 Eclass has the full tool kit. Perhaps you really aren't expected to tinker with anything in the car except if you needed to change the tires.

BTW, welcome to the board.

wait.. you don't have a car alarm?? Ok, yeah, with the SmartKey they can't really hotwire the car and drive it away.

Pokerface, you have 32 posts since we switched to the new board, so its not as bad as you think. Besides, it is quality not quantitiy which is important.

Im not gettin great mileage either

Just did my first 1000 miles... have had the car for 2 weeks. Went on some road trips as soon as I got it. The gas mileage is not great but not as bad as I thought it would be. Ive been gettin about 23 mpg. Thats on the open road. I havent tried driving in the city nor do I desire. I expect the mileage to get better as I drive from what I have heard. I also expect this beast to get a bit faster.

The "toolkit" I got during the glory days of MB was nothing more than a cheezy pliers and screw driver that looked like the cheapest thing coming out of China at the time. So I don't miss that on my 2002. If I break down the only tool I need is a cell phone to call AAA since TeleAid charges for the call and MB Roadside Assistance charges for their service.

What do you expect from a car's tool kit? A set of Snap On?

I finally got into the spare tire well on my 3-day-old c-coupe. It looks like there's something missing. The plastic cross-bar over the tire definitely has an indentation designed for something--I'm guessing a collapsable triangle reflector.

Any other '02 C230 owners find that indentation empty or filled?

Also, tool-wise, there was an S-shaped hex wrench in the glove box. I have no idea what that's supposed to adjust.

No Snap On, they're made in the US which would be OK on a Chrysler. I expect finely crafted European tools like Facom. Personally I get my tools at Sears or Home Depot.

I noticed that when I picked up my car. The Sales guy (who spent a LOT of time with me during the closing), explained that was the key for manually closing the sunroof if the battery failed. The manual confirms this. You basically pop the interior light assembly with a screwdriver, insert wrench, and crank.

Synergy: thanks!

Yet another MB reminder of an option I do not have (like the NO PHONE screen I keep scrolling by).

Yeah.... I REALLY wish I could turn that damn screen off. It's not like it's a major task for Mercedes. Now I *HAVE* to buy the damn thing. Can't have a screen that isn't functional.

Of course, I planned on buying it as soon as they came out with a phone that I WOULD actually buy on my own. With the V.60 (can anyone confirm it will work with Sprint?), that looks like a reality. I'd still like to turn that screen off until I do buy the phone, tho.
