F-ing Rain

Hey guys,

So its been raining for the last 24 hours now and as you may have guessed they still havent figured a way to properly flood streets these days.

On my route between home and school I encountered a puddle (about 1.5 foot deep and 15 feet long) which for some stupid reason I thought I could drive right through....well actually there was an m3 behind me and figured if he was going to do it..might as well...

So I make it across going about 10mph no problem..no stall...no nothing...car starts fine. (but some other cars stalled out behind us)

My worries are two things....
first. water must have gone into the engine at that water height no?...should i change the oil or preform any other tasks?

second. i now have condensation in my fog lamps (at the very least water must have gone into the lamp) what to do about this?

thanks alot guys...

for the fog lamp, you have to remove it, take it apart and dry it out.

If water got "into" your engine, you've got bigger problems than the puddle. It's highly unlikely that any of the seals or gaskets gave way to a 1.5 ft puddle...then again, A C240 is NOT a jetski, so please do't do this frequently.

The "condensation" in your lamps is another story. It's not condensation at all....it's water. You submerged the lights, so it stands to reason that they'd get wet. But it's a relatively easy (if not tedious) fix...

Park your car in a nice, warm, cozy garage and use a hair dryer (NOT a heat gun!!) at a distance of 10-12 inches to help dry the inside of the lens. It will take about 25 min to an hour depending on how much liquid is present.

By the way, was the M3 water skiing behind you?

The m3 made it out just fine, to be honest I wasnt paying much attention as he was going through ...just counted every second of this puddle.
What I can tell you is at the next light he reved his engine up a little bit..

So I shouldnt worry about any engine problems in 1.5-2 feet? I mean I didnt stall so thats a good sign..

If it's still running, then you didn't ingest any water. No problems, no worries.

Where was this? The problem with LI is it may not be fresh water. By me, I never drive through any major puddle, because it is 99% chance its salt water, which everyone knows, is really bad!

How can you say that? We had rain today. I needed six complete strokes of the wipers. I hope I am not wearing out the motor. I found a mud splash on one tire when I got home. Maintenance, maintenance, maintenace......

I had to turn on my wipers yesterday too. It was a real pain. I think I counted about 8 full turns though. Now my car is dirty. DAMN!!!!

Bring 'em back to the dealer and try and convince them it was a manufacturing error/defective part and try and get 'em fixed under warranty!
