wait should i even consider a pipe? i mean, it only produces more sound, right?

If you want the exhausts gases to go from the engine and then out throught the muffler then yes, piping will have to be invovled.

Are you talking about a pipe to replace your resonator? If so, 3 inches is too large.

Here's the thing. You have a secondary cat and don't have a resonator. 2005 C230K. Some people have had issues when the secondary cat has been replaced with piping. I'd just have him replace from the secondary cat-back to the muffler. Have him just match the size of the OEM piping. It'll tone down the "loudness" and should be less expensive.

3 inch piping would provide more sound and is normally seen on large engines and/or Turbo'd cars. With the little amount of power gain from exhaust changes, you don't need that big of piping.

Here's exactly the quote list he gave me:
a catback exhaust
3" Center pipe
Elite Muffler
Double, Single, Quad Tips

So Ill probably tell Pepe to not install the 3" center pipe. I don't quite understand what you mean by "match the size of the OEM piping." Do you mind explaining? Im sorry for being a noob.

I kind of want it to be noticeably loud though, but if I have to install the 3" center pipe and end up losing torque and creating back pressure, I'd rather not.

thanks drexappeal!

WTH, You don't understand match the size of the OEM piping.

In that case, ask him to do all the work from the 2nd cat back to the muffler w/ whatever rear setup you wanted. Tell him that you want the same diameter as the OEM piping and not to increase to 3 inch piping.

BTW, you'd probably spend just as much buying a Remus muffler and having them install it.

Remus, as you've seen above, is a sponsor on here and can probably get you a good deal.

Drex, I know you know... and I know too,
but this is a rhetorical question:

Rocafel1a, what is the current size of your OEM piping ?

that's something you should know !!

I'm a n00b cake , but thanks for clearifying...

Pepe said that a Remus muffler won't really sound noticeably louder...maybe a tad bit deeper, but its hardly noticeable... he said with his elite muffler, itll be noticeably louder and deeper..and for sure itll sound good on an I4...still not sure if i should go for his elite, a remus, or magnaflow.

no, don't get me wrong. I'm not dissing you or trying to call you out.

I'm just trying to help you out, so you know the right questions to ask.
What will happen is that not knowing what you have, a salesman will sell you anything without you realizing that it could actually be bad for your car.

I guess what I'm saying... is try to learn as much about your car as it is now, and that will help you decide on how you want to mod.
Had a muffler shop installed a 3" (diameter) pipe on your car, you'd be pissed when you found out that you really needed a 2.5-2.75" pipe.

Keep asking questions, just do a little homework so you don't get had.

yo thanks for heads up bro!

now it's just whether to go for Remus or custom exhaust. I think what the best thing I should do is to hear the sound in person. Hearing clips on youtube and hearing the soundin person are two different stories. Just need that nice deep throaty noticeable sound on the I4!

Here are some pictures of my BRABUS catback exhaust with new custom tips. I had to replace the factory slanted tips due to looking out of place with the AMG bumber.

I had the job done by Tim at San Pedro Muffler. Those guys do amazing work at reasonable prices! Those guys wont let your car leave their shop until you are fully satisfied. Much props to Tim and his crew at San Pedro Muffler!

Hey Guys and gals,
i know its been awhile, but a few people have recently asked for video clips of the exhaust still. I finally had chance to do it. Its not great and didn't have time to ask someone to shoot it, so the cam is on a tripod, while i did a couple drive by's...

There is a little drone. When i first installed it, there was a little more than i expected. But now, after a few weeks, i can barely even notice it, probably cuz i was so used to stock..

I was thinking of trying to do something to make the exhaust a little louder, but nah, think ill stick to the way it is, im pretty happy with the sound...

C230K
First Post! Supersprint Installed...Kinda Loud and Need Help

Hello all,

Long story short, I have a 2005 C230K (sedan). Already had the resonator delete. Added a Supersprint Axle-Back (with Viper Tip). Quite a bit too loud for my tastes. Already had a 400rwhp Evo and want to keep this car classy. Need suggestions. Considering the following:

1) Remove and put factory back on
2) Adding a resonator (but unsure which one will be the "cure-all"
3) Adding the supersprint resonator pipe (kinda pricey and trying to avoid)

Searched quite a bit for a while and can't find a thread that is supersprint/C230K specific. Thanks for your help!

4-cylinder...see pics in classifieds...it does sound really good...just a bit loud for me and clients. It has a euro look to it. Good price too! Fitment is also great!

FS: Magnaflow Race (High Flow) Cats

I am selling two Magnaflow Race (High Flow) Cats. I purchased them new from a member for $140 shipped. I have decided not to replace my stock front (primary) cats on my C32 with these. I need the money for a different mod. I will sell them for $140 shipped. Never installed and still in original Magnaflow boxes. I will also sell them separately if you only need one.

These are 2.5' in and out. Universal fitment. Retail for $95-100+ each.
