supersprint exhaust info
My brother just spoke to the president of supersprint about a racing system on his miata. He asked him about a system on the c-coupe. They have a few street systems in this country similar to the slk's, but havn't sold any. He has one on the side for me and should get a few more soon. Ths should prove to be the best exhaust for the car and the perfect compliment to the pulleys and chip. The slk exhaust gets a solid 5% hp gain at the rear wheels. I'll keep you guys posted for more info and contact numbers.

I love the sound of a Supersprint exhaust. It's just right for me - not too loud, not too soft. It has just the right note too. It will produce a very sweet harmonic low pitched rumble. Please do let us know if they come to market for the C230K. I would buy without hesitation.

Are you saying the exhaust produces a 5 hp gain or a 5% gain in hp? C coupes are being dynoed at between 160 and 170 rear wheel hp. A 5% gain would be 8 to 8.5 hp.

I would venture to say it was a 5 hp gainnot a 5% gain.

update
Ok. Spoke to the guy today who helped my brother out. The one he has for me is in europe, as well as a few others. The car has been out in euroe for a little longer than in the U.S. He should get an order in the US in 3-6 months. Right now shipping would be expensize. It is a one piece cat back design. I appoligize, there will be at 5% hp gain at the flywheel, but we all know this car does not lose much power between the flywheel and rear.

yes carlsson does make a 4 tipped exhaust setup for the coupe, however i have checked with tirerack, and they said it isnt available in the US. I also checked at wheel experts, and they say they cant get it.

I am gonna check with autowerks, and then see if i can order it directly from carlsson, but then you also need a new rear valance, and then you might as well get side skirts, and a front kit too.... now we are talking a lotta change for exhaust.

Especially considering i have never heard any feedback yet on carlsson exhaust products. Its important that the car sounds "deep" but not loud, and i dont really have any testimonial info on their exhaust systems, so i am kinda iffy on it.

Go get it, and then report back to the rest of us

i think that MH-Dezent has a quad exhaust system for the 203
dual tips on each side....
I dont know if it is sedan specific or not... you may want to check on that...

i think wheel experts carry their product... wheelexperts.com

exhaust
Why would you need 4 exhaust pipe outlets, one for each cylinder? This is MAJOR overkill, and looks Rube if you'll pardon the expression, cuz everyone knows the car has no more than two pipes coming back from the engine. At that cylinder-to-pipe ratio, a CL 600 should have twelve exhaust pipes. Think about it...wow, that would be cool, right?

So what's the deal - "my car pollutes more than your car - LOOK AT ME, it has more exhaust pipes than yours"? In other words, to be what the French call a "frîmeur" or a "Jacky" ?

My advice, take it or leave it: save your money and spend it on something that is functional, not something that makes your car look ridiculous.

Welcome to the club Xeon. You'll ocassionally get some remarks like these that basically don't answer your question in the first place. You can either ignore it or do what they say...its up to you. Hey... it's your car...do what you want with it and even though some of us might not like what your going to do, most of us will still answer the question as best as we can.

Like Greg230 said "Go get it, and then report back to the rest of us "

I Don't know anyone yet who saw a dual exhaust, dual tip on a car and said "hey that looks ridiculous!"....unless it was just hella ugly.

Why? On a 4-cyl car it certainly looks just as ridiculous as a fake turbo hood tacked on a Cavalier.

to me the number of "tips" is irrelevant, you can have one tip from the muffler or two, everyone knows that the # has nothing to do with ening output... example, my '92 integra had a single exhaust with a dubble finisher, it looked nice. my Z3 has the same (see pic below). To me the real question is if you need a double exhaust on a 200hp car? my guess is no, it will not add any performance gain, so it is likely not "worth it"

HOWEVER... if you are interested in this option as a cosmetic modification and do not need/expect a greater performance increase than a standard hi-perf cat-back system AND can deal wiht the added weight, then go for it, I think it would look great (if done well). GOOD LUCK

Since seeing the pics of the AMG C32 Coupe (special build) I have been considering getting dual tips put on my C230 Evo AMG(styling)Coupe....when I get it....I think it looks really sexy.....but....Am I secretly trying to fool myself/or anyone else into thinking I have the real beast....How would I go about this anyway?.....just get the existing exit pipe Tee'd off and run an extension to a tip at the other side of the apron?....and what about fixing this extra pipe?.......Oh and no I would NOT contemplate putting V6 Kompressor badges behind the front wheel arches,or C32badge...Opinions and advice welcomed

That's it!
I think that's the problem with these "all mouth and trousers" car modifications - they are usually intended to make the car look more foreboding and faster - which they may do for people that know nothing about cars. But people who know a thing or 2 about engine modifications and exhaust systems will not be fooled by this sort of equipment.

So if you are doing the modification to please yourself, Xeon, that's fine, more power to ya. But if you analyse the reasons behind why you want the exhaust as did London AMG, and conclude that maybe it's to pretend your car is something it's not, then think again before doing it. That's all.
