W203/CL203 Aftermarket Exhaust Thread - All you want to know
Mr. CitronC230K_03:
The system's diagram that I posted is for a W203 C32 configuration. Pictures look basically the same set up. The changes are mainly instead of twin exhaust pipes on each end to one exhaust pipe on each end, diameter of the exhaust piping is also smaller.
Mr. MB///HRV:
(Yeah, my first name is Mario
)... below is the insert from the email I got from Carlsson yesterday (the fax with the diagram I didn't receive until today, however the information regarding costs was the first piece of info that was made available to me)
INSERT
>>>>>>
Quad exhaust for your C32. It is in stock and available for immediate delivery. Pricing for the kit is $2,047.68. Partnumber is 18340101.

Wiedermann, thanks for posting the different W203 exhaust configurations.... It seems to me from the picture, that the muffler on the M112 (AMG C32) and the M112 (regular & sport exhaust) are exactly the same. Can you confirm ? I need to know this, to make sure the clearance is OK when I fit in the M112 AMG exhaust on my C320 V6 Coupe.
Also, the M112 AMG exhaust has two headers leading into the catalytic conv while the other M112 exhaust systems only have one header leading into the Cat. Behind the cat, what is meant by the numbers "60" and "65" ? Is that length ? Too bad that the M112 AMG exhaust is sold in whole from the Cat back, because it just seems that besides the length (60 vs 65), the only other difference is with the exhaust tips. However, the exhaust tips cannot be purchased separately, from all the questions & research I've done. My only recourse is to buy a complete M112 AMG exhaust system, and replace the whole thing (meaning cutting it down from 65 to 60), or pry off the exhaust tips and weld them on to my existing M112 exhaust. All that only because AMG won't sell the exhaust tips by themselves. Go figure !
Now if only there were an AMG twin-oval dual exhaust system that would fit the COUPE !!!!

Configurations for exhaust systems are slightly different depending on the type of vehicle. If you choose the wrong part (for example a V6 super charged exhaust system and try to put it on a V4 cylinder coupe) you will not be able to fit the system without modifications. The extend of the modification(s) may/will vary depending on how "far" away from the original component/part you chose. The best is getting the configuration for your vehicle.
Regarding your coupe, which I think that is what you have, there are quad tip exhausts for your engine configuration, different part number, slightly different than the pictures posted.
There is another member SilvaC32 who also had a custom exhaust system built and installed on his C32... mostly it looks very similar to the pictures seen below, just done on a C32 instead of a coupe

Cheers!

There is a system for coupes. I got that information last week from Carlsson, I just don't have the diagrams anymore... they were faxed over to me with a lot more information like dyno tests, etc from each configuration on every car (which I think is part of their brochure).
Last week when I checked this information, Carlsson of North America (main distributor) had just a few systems set up, even if they sold them all, they have a next shipping, coming in which case, you just would have to wait 4 to 6 weeks max.
If you have a couple of thousand bucks to spend and you are ready to purchase it, then you have to two options:
1.- Contact Carlsson directly: http://www.carlsson.de where there is a link to their local re-seller (they will contact you in within a day.. that is what I did last week and I got a reply almost the next day).
2.- Contact Harris: email: sales@hartonmotorwerks.com,hartonmotorwerks@shaw.c a,harris@hartonmotorwerks.com who also sells the same kit and might be able to get you a better price than directly through Carlsson.
Cheers!

That looks awesome. IMO a even slightly sport style car doesn't look right without dual exhaust. One other question. How difficult would it be to out the stock oval tips on it? It's not that huge of a deal if you can't but still, It would look even more awesome. Thanks a ton Weidermann, your info is great

Any reputable muffler shop should be able to do any custom work for you... problem is... MONEY!.... everything runs on a budget... I thought about having the Carlsson system and have custom AMG tips installed... whelp???.. can be done... 300 bucks per tip... so about 1200 bucks on just tips... then labor to remove the existing ones and installation, so it can be done... just your exhaust system, if you started with a Carlsson system per say, would ended up costing you about 4 to 5 grand...

Cheers!

I've never seen these on a MB Coupe. I would think that it would require some cutting/rolling of the rear valence.
I've seen them on the AUDI and BMW 318 coupe, and it looks like they had a custom rear bumper job too, to make these fit.

yeah, that's what they said about the SCHATZ dual-oval chrome tips... no cutting required. Well, that was true for the W203 SEDAN, but not for the COUPE.
Be careful when someone says it will fit the W203. They most of the time, do not know that the SEDAN and COUPE have different fits.
But if they say, it fits the COUPE as a direct bolt on, then try it out. I think these with resonator go for about $500-$600 USD. Depending on how much noise you get / don't get from the resonator, would result on whether or not to keep it or remove it. I don't think many people here in the US have the REMUS DTM exhaust on a Mercedes-Benz, so it will be hard to find out how it will sound on your COUPE.

Remus System
Hello,
I'm planning to put remus in my coupe, There are 3 items. 1 "resonator" and 2 Mufflers. Now I have C7 without resonator.
First of all I don't know if I put the resonator, I want more sound but better sound. Any one cam tell me the diference between having them or have the muffler directly?
506001 0300 - front silencer
Then I have to chosse between:
506001 0504 - rear silencer with 2 tail pipes Ø 76 mm
or
506001 0562 - rear silencer with 2 tail pipes Ø 70 mm Racing Look
I only saw a photo of the first one (and the tips look too long), If anyone has more from the first and something from the second, please post them.
Best Regards,
Ruben.
