E_Corleone, i'm jealous. Did you have to do any modifications to make the right side fit? I have a dip for the spare tire (even though the C32 doesn't come with a spare!!!). I want the Carlsson exhaust too.

How about a pic from underneath? Is it really a functional dual exhaust, or just for looks?

I like it! Looks good.

As far as the poll, the choice that I would pick is not on there. That is to put the C320 back on, and leave the Carlsson off (I don't like other badges on the car - just my opinion). If I could only choose between the choices, then I would pick debadged, although you will probably have people thinking that it's a C240.

Very nice looking - I also like the rear valance - very simple and looks good. Does it always seem that one side of the dual exhaust (doesnt matter what brand) - one side seem a little longer - or is it my eyes playing tricks in my old age? Seem staggered to me.

as far as i know the body shop didnt have to make any special modifications to get it to fit. maybe thats why its a little uneven, ill ask them when im there tomarrow.

my thoughts exactly....

there's a lot of C240's running around where I live and VERY FEW C320's.....even at the dealer there's a ton of 240's on the lot.

I concur with revstriker and bagwell, put on just the C320 badges. Whenever I see a debadged Merc, I automatically assume it's the least-expensive version and the guy is embarrased about it (whereas I simply chose to buy the Merc with the rear end of a CRX so everyone knows I'm a cheapskate, I don't even have to option to remove the badge to front a more expensive version ).

Cheers, BT

PS: Your exhaust looks sharp.

Debadged is Cool

It is better to remain a man of mystery.

People on this board seem to be into looks and badges. It is a bit different from people on the Audi TT forum, who have mostly debadged and are a bit more technically minded and a bit more nuts than the people on this board.

Anyway, hardly anyone knows what Carlsson means and so they would shrug their shoulders, And who cares about the C badge.

One gets a lot more looks when the others don't know what the hell you're driving -- on my TT and C Coupe, I have debadged the model emblems and get a lot of looks. That wasn't the objective, but what the heck, it works.

I have to agree with Trench. Most people who look at debadged cars assume that that is the lowest model. Why else would you do it? Besides, how could you be a man of mystery driving a tricked out benz? The Carlsson emblem is not for common people, it's for the enthusiasts who know what it is to recognize that you know your $h!t. And I don't know why you would debadge your cars, there is only one model of both your cars anyway. That could be why people are looking.

for almost anything Carlsson, your best bet is Tirerack. they shipped it to me ups ground for only like $20 and i got it in two days. of course i had it professionally installed and it took them a few days, but they did it wrong and are going to fix it. as far as cost, i dont know yet because i wont pay them until its totally finished.

why else would anyone do it?

for the look not just for the name to show off what model it is.

The car looks alot cleaner with out the badges.
I only like some cars without them and some look better with them.

If i thought my car would look better with out it and i had a SL55 AMG i would take them off. (i would really leave them because they look good). but i would do it if i like how it looks, not to show off to peope what model it is. the cars for me not other people.

i have decided to go with the original C320 on the left and the Carlsson badge on the right. even though i like the clean look of the back debadged, i really only see people with the lower models doing this.

oh and btw, i didn't have my car de-badged on purpose. an a$$hole in a semi truck nailed me two months ago. the truck trashed my back driver's side and thrashed my suspension. i decided to put a positive spin on it and add a few mods to hold me over and give me something to look forward to while i waited to get my baby back. hopefully, my car will be totally fixed tomarrow (fingers crossed) and ill have some more pics up.

Like I said, too many people on this board care about badges. An enthusiast doesn't need a freaking badge to know another enthusiast has done some mods to their car. They can appreciate it without a badge. The reason I take off the model numbers like C230k or Kompressor or TT or Quattro is that the car looks a helluva lot better and cleaner without all that clutter. Besides, badges are just advertising for the manufacturer or for some superficial dweeb who needs badges to justify his existence (just laughing now).

Just for arguments sake, an enthusiast would not even remove his badge. He would appreciate what he has and how it was built. He would not be embarrased that he could not get the next model up. I guess that with the C-Coupe or the TT, it doesn't matter as much since there is only one model. I think its the superficial dweeb who needs to remove a badge to be something he's not. (Not directed towards you, just generalizing from the argument).

It's not about pride, nor about embarrrassment. It's not about trying to be something you're not-- that is evidently your issue. You can pay the shrink.

It's about cleaning up the clutter and front and back end for the aesthetics!

If it's got a star on the front and back, people know it's an MB, and they know it's a C Class if they know anything about MB. For the people who don't know, who cares?
