don't know what's going on with the price on performance products. they still list $995 for the weltmeister quad.

Yeah, the Weltmesiter is listed at $995. But you can get 10-15% off from PP when they run their promo. I got mine at $895 and then an additional 15% off when I got bought mine 4 years ago. I still get their e-mails for the 15% off.

Honestly, the more I think about it, it may have only been the coupe that had the C7 package available, which included a straight pipe.

My entire exhaust consisted of 3 parts. Headers + primary cat, piping w/ resonator, and piping attached to muffler.

I know this whole exhaust thing is confusing. I just research the c7 coupe, aka evo package, and the difference was that didnt have a resonator, but they did have that secondary cat.


So you are saying your car does not have the secondary cat like mine as per the diagram #4? That is what I though. I was at the dealer and the vin# for an 04 I gave them showed the same part as my 05? Is there a way you can see if you can get me a part # for that part from your car. Maybe you can call your dealer and give them your vin and tell them you think you need to replace that section of exhaust? I know yours is a 2004.5 so maybe this is why it is different. Either way if this is the case i really could use that straigh pipe on my car.

Also you say you have piping with a resonator and then piping attached to the muffler. Where is the resonator installed. I though it was on the muffler section? See attached pics

Only reason I have straight piping w/o a resonator is because I did a resonator delete. Look through my history thread. MJ had some pics that he posted up when I did the dual exhaust.

Basically, if I hadn't have done the resonator delete, it wouldn't be just piping from the primary cat back.

Let me repeat this 1 more time.

3 sections

- piping attached to muffler/exit

Ok I follow that. So if you were to go to the dealership and order your mid pipe with resonator what section would that be on the diagram I provided. I was thinking #4. My car has the mid pipe with the secondary cat. I was trying to order your part with the resonator, it would be cheap than with the cat, but it was the same part number for the 04 and 05 sedans.

The mid section you are talking about connects with the flange at the primary cat and then bends around to the drive side and then connect with another flange towards the middle of the car, right? If this is correct I can really use that part number for that section since a resonator should be cheaper than a cat.

Try 203 409 0101. That's the number on the bottom or the resonator.

I am still trying to get rid of the raspy exhaust note. I thought it ws loud but I found out I had an exhaust leak by the collector flange. That was part of my raspy noise also. Its must be the secondary cat like you said.

Here is the stock flange I was talking about. Odd 2 bolt flange.

I got a question for you guys. I heard that it's pointless to get an exhaust system for the 05 C230K SS simply because it has a I4 engine, and if I do get an exhaust system installed on that, I won't like the sound of the car?

That's not necessarily true. I love the sound of my car. It's somewhat quiet at idle, at WOT it has a deep bass sound and definitely not tinny or "ricey" (as some would put it).

I have a custom cat-back dual exit Kleemann. Piping is only 2.5-2.75 from the cat-back.

It all depends on the muffler you go with, diameter of the piping, etc... There are some setups that end up sounding more tinny and/or "ricey."

Just gotta choose wisely and you'll end up with a nice sounding exhaust.

Only thing it is "pointless" for is if you expect to gain any significant power. At most, I'd say someone can gain 1-2 hp (AT MOST) if at all.

oh and btw what suspension parts did you install, cuz it seems like your ride is "balanced" and not like a tractor.

I already stated, custom cat-back / dual Kleemann exit exhaust. 2.5-2.75 inch piping. What isn't clear?

Yes, I mind sharing the cost on installation and labor...LOL...Only because My car is all over the w203 forum, if you just search. I'm party of the $15K club when it comes to mods (I'm sure you'll understand, the more you read through the forums).

Um, check the AFTERMARKET / D.I.Y MODS STICKY. That has a tremendous amount of links that you can read through, and bump if necessary, to ask your questions. There is a thread in particular that is called SUSPENSION THREAD that you can bump and ask.

I'm looking for a little more grunt from the exhaust. Yes, i could've gone with a new muffler but i already got some nice tips welded on to the stock one and it looks pretty good. I've heard that removing the resonator doesn't make much of a difference in sound with the stock muffler but what if i were to remove both the resonator and the secondary cats? Or maybe just the cats? I live in FL so i'm not worried about emissions tests. IIRC the backpressure issue is only a bigger deal on the forced induction cars. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Why couldn't you just cut off the tips that are welded to the OEM exit and then have that re-welded to an aftermarket muffler? That shouldn't be too difficult for a a good shop to do.

So Drex, since you're the mod and one of the most experienced and knowledgeable guys here, can you help me choose between what would be best to do if res delete or cat? I'm on the same boat as Ryan. It seems like there's a lot of different opinions about this(after doing multiple searches) but I rather listen to what you have to say..

BTW..My engine is stock. I would just like a little more flow and just a bit of sound out the exhaust...not loud!

I just installed a Brabus cat-back exhaust system on my car. I love the way it sounds! It has a nice stock sound. It is very quiet on idle, but when you hit the gas, it has a nice tone-downed throaty note. The only thing I don't like about the exhaust, are the muffler tips. They are hideous to me! I'm going to have them replaced with the Brabus straight-thru tips. I wish they wouldn't have made the C-Class muffler tips slanted. They might work for some people, but for me, their ugly! Here are some pics....
