no more brake dust on wheels

I get so angry when i wash my car and within three days the nice c7s are covered in brake dust. Someone at work told me to put pledge on them. I tried it last week, and so far no brakedust! try it, you'll be surprised.

Just thought i would share my new tip with you guys.

Is it safe for the wheel finish, brake pads, calipers, and rotors?

i am not sure if they have it outside the U.S. But pledge is not made for wheels its a house hold wood cleaner/polisher.

I will not use it on my wheels unless i hear some people saying it really does work.

So TNat u have no brake dust at all within 3 days? did u drive? lol

A pledge is like a promise, to never ever use the brakes to stop the car. This will help you stay dust free.

LMAO!
Buellwinkle, you crack me up.....can't stop laughing!

Guys, just as Buellwinkle suggests; don't use the brakes or just apply a good coat of wax! That will help keep the brake dust off.

:p :p :p

I have just received my new car and have the 5 double spoke alloys. My dealer sold me a product called Metalmate that provides a coating for alloys. More details at www.metalmate.info not sure if they supply outside uk and it is not cheap. I have applied it today and will see how it goes.

500 mile update

its been about 500 miles and still just a little brake dust, but it wipes off easier now. To clarify, just polish the rim lightly with the pledge. The guy at work has been puttin it on his bmw for over 5 years and the rims have not been hurt in anyway

If this is the pledge furniture polish, then we have it in the UK. The company have recently released Pledge wipes (sealed pack of disposible wipes impregnated with Pledge) This would be more covenient and safer than a spray! _ (keep it away from the brakes!!!)

Might give it a go.

Smile Pledge

"Pledge" made by Johnson & Johnson is a spray on compound for removing dust from furniture. It is not a polish or wax. It does not harm fine wood finishes, and probably would not damage the hard clear coat on the wheels. On wood finishes it removes the static bonding between the dust and the surface. Some logic to the fact that it might reduce the brake dust "cling"

This makes perfect sense, the pledge repels dust on tables and rims!

Gee folks, we may be on to something good, here. TNat, thanks for sharing!

(Sounds of rummaging through wife's furniture care products. Wife says, "Bob, what are you doing? Are you going to dust my furniture for me? Really?)
