Ipod

I just installed a basic little pioneer 1/2 din cd player into my buddy's boat. He bought the ipod connection kit to go with the player. I've been out of the aftermarket stereo game for quite some time (I think Safety Dance was #1 at the time) but I noticed the connection for the ipod was the same data cable as a cd changer. In my 06 I have the 6 disk glove box cd changer.

My question is, could I disconnect the changer and get a similar ipod connection to replace it?

so there is another 'data' port like the 6 disk changer cable on the stock non-bose head unit?

The iPod kit comes with a new harness. The new harness plugs into the HU and the old harness plugs into the new harness.

This is for the updated MOST based cars.

Not sure about an Aux input - but i'm pretty sure the iPod kit won't work on the older D2B based cars.

The iPod kit does not work in D2B cars (pre-05). The best you can do with the stock head unit is the Harman/Kardon Drive+Play. Crutchfield sells the entire kit for $99 (after rebate) including the wired FM modulator (injects the signal into the antenna input and boosts FM radio too). Here's a link....

I stashed the display in my ashtray compartment and mounted the click wheel between the shifter and cup holder in my C. The E and the truck are a little different, but thats for another forum. Rock On!

best thing to do is get audio10 cd & icelink, and sell cd changer.
then u can still listen to audio CDs and connect iPod.

For 2004 and prior cars, with a D2B buss, you can connect an Aux in jack, and keep the cassette player intact if you follow the instructions in this link, starting at post # 35.

It has photos! Wowie!

Next week I'll be soldering some wires for use on the Space Shuttle. I'll be sure to put some Bluegrass music in the MP3 player to enjoy while working.

You choice of a Pioneer stereo is excellent. They are well built, and have one of the best tuners of any car system I have tested. Sensitivity, the ability to receive stations from a distance is double that of other brands.
