HomeLink Range

So my range sucks. I am trying to fine tune it now according to the FAQ at www.homelink.com, but am posting to see if anyone has the same problem?

Damn right the range sucks!

In my RX330 I can be 4x as far away from the house as my wife's c230...what a big disappointment...for my wife! You have to be right in front of the garage to open the damn door!!!

Glad the bothers someone else!

^^x2. I can open my garage door with my sister's IS before I even turn the corner. In my car forget it.

What other capabilities does HomeLink have besides operating garage doors?
HomeLink will activate/deactivate home/office lighting and small appliances; lock/unlock entry door locks; and open/close gates.
Sorry to hi-jack your thread temporarily, Sanny, but I thought this was interesting...I wonder how easy it would be to program lighting. Obviously, it'd have to be lighting that was controlled by a remote, but this might be a good thing for when you come up to your house and all the lights are off, but want to turn the lights on via remote...hmmmm.

Anyways, back to your issue with range on the Homelink for the garage opener. The range sucks on mine. I have to be at a good angle to the window of my garage or else the homelink won't work.

Almost 1/3 - 1/2 block away works for me. Of course it helps to have a garage door opener that opens the door faster than average: Genie screw drive with DC motor.

Homelink!? lol

to tell you the truth, the W203 homelink is WAY better than the W163 one.

and also what pisses me off is that, the homelink range is quite short, and also, my stupid garage door opens slow.

Yup, range sucks on the W203. I can be 3x farther in my A6.

i actually have that x10 lighting system thing, and i did program the lights, but of course the range sucked nuts so it didnt really turn them on or off, but i do have a key chain remote that does my lights on and off, and garage plus community gate. quite nice!

the range sucks with the benz. the usually has to be sitting still to get reception. i used to a lexus is300 and the range on that thing was great. i could also open my garage while i was in motion.

I get an excellent range, about a block a way, before I turn the corner. It has the same range as the handheld.
