2003MY C-Coupe on Hold?

Just got off the phone with my dealer salesman. My new coupe was built 7/25, got to Baltimore mid-August, but still isn't in Chicago!

I keep getting a different story every time I call, but this time he said that because of the new 1.8L engine, the coupe hasn't been released and certified and mine is still on hold at the port!

I told him that I was a member of this forum and that several folks were already driving their '03's and that he was full of garbage. Either way, still no car and I'm moving from disappointed to pissed off as the days pass on!

Anybody else feeling the same pain, or do I have the only deadbeat dealer?

I feel your pain, mine was supposed to be delivered this week, but I haven't even gotten a call from the dealer with a VIN yet, so I assume its still on a ship in the Atlantic, or on the docks in Halifax.

I haven't panicked yet though, will wait another week, but I've already seen 2003s on the lots here...

DUDE! ... where's my car???

WOW. that's ridiculous. I bought mine three weeks ago now and have been driving it... too bad it's not certified because then I can't crash.

If you can, cancel that order and buy one from inventory! I PM'D you I think... anyhow MB of Naperville had tons on the lot. Also go to www.motorwerks.com (of barrington) they have realtime inventory. If anything, you can send the URL to your salesman and say if it's not certified why are they being sold at other dealers!

I would if I could, but what I'm looking for is rare (that's why I ordered it.) Couln't find an '02 with a 6-spd and C5 anywhere in stock back in June.

I'll give the guy a call and see if he can get his shipping clerk to give him another lie to hold me off for a few days!

Call your dealeship Sales Manager and demand that you want to know what is going on with the car (politley first). All MB dealerships are measured on customer satisfaction, and most do not want an unhappy customer because it is reflected negatively in their pocket books. My sales guy was giving me the run around as well. I called the Sales Manager and got the straight scoop. In fact it was delivered one week earlier than expected. As it turns out, he had my car mixed up with another guy's car with the same last name.

with on on star system, they know where the car is. call the sales manager and find out what is going on. I would start searching for your car at other dealerships. When i bought mine i called three dealerships, who ever got the car i wanted first was the one i went to, but i made a date was set, if they are telling you they dont have a delivery date on the vehichle then something is amiss. insist that you get a actual date or i would take my busniess elsewhere.

Got a new story, and unfortunetly it might be true...

My dealer now says that it's not the '03 Coupe that's on hold due to certification... it's the '03 Coupe with the 6-speed.

So does anyone out there have an '03 manual, or have you seen one on the lot yet? Grrrrrr

taylor192...look at my sig. line. Besides the heated seats, seems we are getting the same car. Mine is supposed to be delivered week of Sept 16th. BTW I did get a VIN number for the car approx. 2 weeks ago. Car was manufactured 1/8...

Let's see who gets the car first!

What a bunch or ignorant people or possibly liars. Ask them why Plaza Motors in St. Louis have two manual transmission cars in stock. At least their on-line inventory says they do, and I have found it to be very accurate in the past.

One is a black/ash car with absolutely no options at an MSRP of $25,615. The other car is black/charoal leather car with an MSRP of $29515. options are not listed, but using the MB build your own page it might be C4, C5 and cd-changer or it could be C5, C7, and cd-changer. This car is specifically listed as a C230kMT, meaning manual transmission.

YOU HAVE MY CAR!

No VIN number, but I was told it would be delivered the first 2 weeks of Sept, no exact date. Worst thing is, the other dealer across town has 3 on the lot, same colour and most of the same options... but I had to make a substantial deal with this dealer to get an MB in the first place... so I'm stuck waiting.

PM me and I'll remind myself to PM you when I get the car, we'll see who gets it first. :-)

I also have a small geographical advantage.

I am located 100 miles closer to the docks in Halifax than taylor192 is.

Hate to stick up for the people who aren't delivering my car, but the online inventory page at my dealer has listed my car as "in stock" for the past couple of weeks now. I think it shows up on the inventory screen when it hits the port, not the dealer.

i know the system, and it tells them, if it is in port, or at which dealer in any state. they are filling you with crap or they are just dumb, if you need any kind of answers my sales guy in annapolis was great, maybe he could answer your questions, dont have the number on me but his name is wayne jackson, mercedes benz of annapolis, MD.

i picked up my 2003 c230 MT,c5,c7,changer over three weeks ago, and they had 2.

never heard anything about it being not certified, what the hell are they talking about?

I have found Plaza's on-line inventory to be completely accurate. The other St Louis dealer, however, is the opposite. Their on-line inventory shows less than 25% of the actual and inventory and usually lists cars that have been sold months before.

I hang around that area alot... How do you like the place where you got your tint done? I was thinking about using detail oriented .. they usually do good work but I am not sure if they carry the kind of tint I want.

Friendly bet? I think a friendly a$$-kicking if his car comes in before mine! Wonder if MB would setup ultimate fighting championships for customers to get the first MB off the boat!

i went to this place in glen burnie to get it done, i dont have the info on me right now but i can post it when i get home, lifetime warrenty against everything including scratches, plus only $120.00 the guy who did it was excellent. only bad thing is that it is not in the most desired location, little run down, but if you can deal with that youll be in and out in about an hour.

ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

My car was supposed to be delivered first 2 weeks of Sept, just called, and it'll be another 2 weeks!

Plus I'm going to lose the bet as to who gets their car first. MBs arrive in Hailfax, get off the boat, get inspected, get put on a train to Montreal, then off-loaded onto transport trucks to come to Ottawa, then 2 more days to prepare!
