Steering wheel controls - aftermarket unit NO ANSWER

This seems like a solution to my problem. I have a Japanese spec Comand on my pre-facelift C240 and I did not know what to do with the radio to use it back in Europe (options were European Comand, FM radio expander or aftermarket HU). Before I move on, could you just reply to couple of simple questions:
1. Did you have to go to the dealer to program anything, or did it all work automatically after installation?
2. Can I use the existing speakers and change the HU only together with the CA-R PI.131?
If it is so easy, then I will simply go for an Ipod compatible Pioneer + this kit, instead of looking for a European Comand, or FM radio expander for the Japanese Comand.

Yup. That's the dilemma I'm having. I've got bose. I think comand will end up being my choice (as much as I want to do the AVIC, cuz of your install).

How do you know if you have the Bose? I have not seen any Bose logos/text in the HU, speakers, trunk or anywhere else in the car. E.g. I do not find any audio equipment in the trunk. Without disassembling anything, I can only see the HU, CD changer in the glove box + AUX in, speakers in the front door and speakers in the back. Do I need to open the dash and check something out to find out whether it is Bose or not?

For those that have installed the CA-R-PI adapter, does this adapter also have wires for speed and reverse signals from the CAN BUS? This would make nav installation a lot easier for me. Thanks.

I have been considering this unit http://mobile.jvc.com/product.jsp?mo...hId=126&page=1
because it has DVDA functions. Anyone know if the functions will work for the steering control. To date I have seen no information and the pioneer unit looks great especially the double din unit but it lacks the surround feature. I do music productions so DVDA is the right choice for me. BTW stock casette unit sux big time.

It would be a sin to put a single DIN unit into one of these cars. And no, the Pioneer adapter will not work with a JVC.

There is lots of good information on this board and no shop believed the steering wheel could be controled on the Benz. Some shops are out right scams here in Toronto.

Not really. It's relatively unknown since the adapters are really only available in the UK (and they seem to be rare there, at that) and Europe, and the only companies that have them are Pioneer and Alpine (though I still haven't found a part number for that one, after all this time). Silly, silly parts.

anyone know of any aftermarket cd player head units that will work with the steering wheel functionatlity (volume and track selection) of my MB?
I seriously miss the ability to fastforward a CD track in the currnt Audio10 system.

Hi, I'm also new here. OK, The CA-R-PI.131 works in a c200 sportcoupe 2001 with the pioneer DEH-P9800BT to control the audio, but is it possible to make use of the phone buttons on the steering wheel to control the bluetooth function of the pioneer unit??? Please someone tell me it is. It would make my day.
Greetings from holland

it can be done
what you need is a pac module. i am an installer at bestbuy and have installed it in a 2005 325ci bmw and the customer had and alpine indash installed. works great. you need to try to find this maybe online or distributors like staubtech. but it can be done, if there is a pac module made for your vehicle and year.
try it out!

I've looked up a PAc adapter but I can't seem to find any text on their site that confirms that the Bluetooth function will remain. Does the CA-R-PI.131 support the phone buttons on the steering wheel in combination with a pioneer bluetooth radio???

U don't need that person
Just get it from here
I mean here even it is a lil more expensive, but $10 usd shipping. shipping from Europe would end up to the same price coz it is pricy.

I forgot how much I paid, but it's definitely not cheap. It was well over a hundred dollars for me. To say it's just "some wires" is quite an understatement. It needs to translate the signal from the steering wheel into signal that the Pioneer headunit can understand. It requires more than just some wires to do that.
