Hi,
I`m new here in this forum, and I just found this very interesting Thread. I`m from Germany, and my English is not good enough to understand everything what you are writing perfect - so you must excuse me if I perhaps ask something that was answered in this thread before.

I have got a coupé which was made at 05/2001, and a Pioneer DEH-P88RS headunit. Until now I always thought it`s impossible to use the steering-wheel control but in this thread I read that the CA-R-PI.131 can be used for Pre-Facelift models of the coupé instead of the fact that the data-sheet from Pioneer says that it can only be used from 2004+ on.

Did I understand that right?
Is there someone who has got a pre-facelift coupé or C-Class (Should be no difference for this matter, or?) in which he installed this CA-R-PI.131 successful in combination with a Pioneer-headunit?

I hope my English isn`t too bad to understand.

Thank you in advance for your help!

The Pioneer sheet says that the 133 is for the new W203, and the 131 is for the old W203

I see what you mean now. The 131 is the one that I used on my prefacelift 2004 C32 and it worked fine.

Okay, thanks a lot! Then it should work with my 2001 Pre-Facelift, too - or are there any differences with the CAN-bus between the prefacelift-models from 2001 and 2004?

Not that I'm aware of. I think it will work.

interesting...so let me get this straight...with this adapter 133 (i have a 05 w203) i can control a pioneer headunit with my OEM steering wheel controls??? wow....the only reason i wanted to go the OEM route is because of the steering wheel controls...since aftermarket offers SOOOO many more features....can anyone verify that this works just fine? and what are the limitations?

I don't know of anywhere that sells them in the US. I got mine on ebay from someone in Portugal.

Here is the application list

How about the phone button controls, do they also work with the adapter? Also, do you know if this adapter is just for the z1?

The phone answer/hang up buttons do not work. This is not specific to the z1. It will work with any modern Pioneer unit with a wired remote input.

How about the W200 double-DIN Head Unit

and the NAV system together?

I've played with a lot of Nav Systems and I think Alpine pretty much kicks ***.

the link to the auction:
http://cgi.ebay.de/LENKRADINTERFACE-...QQcmdZViewItem

But I don`t think it will help - it`s a private seller.

Today the CA-R PI.131 arrived and I immediately installed it in the car - works perfectly
The Display now shows "PIONEER" when it is in audio-mode...

For those that have successfully added the adaptor, would you mind taking some pics, so that people can see the steering wheel buttons actually working (and or video, for those that can do digital video).

Thanks. If we can do that, I'm going to add this to the AFTERMARKET / OEM mod Sticky as one of the useful URL's.

I believe you. I don't have any reason not to, cuz I don't have an aftermarket head unit. This is just for all "future" users who say it "can't be done". If there are pics and video of it working, then it refutes what people have said "can't be done" in the past. So, it's a win-win situation and whoever posts the pics/vids first, will get the "glory" so to speak because they have visual proof that it works.

This isn't a mandatory thing, I'm just saying it would make it worthwhile for me to add this to the AFTERMARKET MOD sticky.
