Steering wheel controls - aftermarket unit NO ANSWER

I believe you. I don't have any reason not to, cuz I don't have an aftermarket head unit. This is just for all "future" users who say it "can't be done". If there are pics and video of it working, then it refutes what people have said "can't be done" in the past.
So, it's a win-win situation and whoever posts the pics/vids first, will get the "glory" so to speak because they have visual proof that it works.
This isn't a mandatory thing, I'm just saying it would make it worthwhile for me to add this to the AFTERMARKET MOD sticky.

Okay, I just made a small clip for the ones who don`t believe me
http://www.unika04.de/priv/MVI_0493.AVI
I didn`t use every function, only "next track" And "volume +" -
all other functions like "last track" and "volume -", fast forward/reward (by pressing the next/last track button for more than 1,5 seconds) and when you are in Tuner mode frequency +/- and station-searching by pressing the next/last track button for more than 1,5 seconds work too - you joust have to believe

Ever since this and the AVIC thread came out, I've seriously been considering not going with the Euro Comand...hmmm...decisions, decisions. Well, I've got other priorities before the head unit, so I've got some time.

Very nice! Thanks for the vid. I already added this to the sticky, but this gives more reason for people to believe.

Two questions, (1) Can the AVIC-Z1 hook up to the Harmon Kardon (2005) amp? (2) Do the stock speakers sound any better with the AVIC-Z1?

Is there still no solution?
...to the fact that we lose steering wheel controls when we install aftermarket head units? this has been my major dilemma. i want a badass touch screen unit but dont want to lose that feature.

It's one thing if you said that you were too lazy. It's another thing claiming you searched, but in reality didn't. These are in the AFTERMARKET/OEM sticky thread on the top of the forum!...LOL.

dont call me a liar, i did search. i poked through the aftermarket/DIY thread and all i found was a post about the pioneer avec head unit. i'll admit i was too hasty in asking without a more thorough search, but i'm usually the guy who gets tired of seeing answered, easily searchable questions repititously on the 'net. hey nobody's perfect. :P

This seems like a solution to my problem. I have a Japanese spec Comand on my pre-facelift C240 and I did not know what to do with the radio to use it back in Europe (options were European Comand, FM radio expander or aftermarket HU). Before I move on, could you just reply to couple of simple questions:
1. Did you have to go to the dealer to program anything, or did it all work automatically after installation?
2. Can I use the existing speakers and change the HU only together with the CA-R PI.131?
If it is so easy, then I will simply go for an Ipod compatible Pioneer + this kit, instead of looking for a European Comand, or FM radio expander for the Japanese Comand.

One more question before I start buying and installing an aftermarket Pioneer and steering wheel control adapter. I assume my current Japan spec comand has ISO 10 pin connector (see the picture of the back of the unit I found from the internet). The car is 2004 (pre-facelift C240). I assume there is a D2B connector/cable in the existing comand unit (lower right corner?)
What should I do for the D2B cable/connection when replacing the comand with Pioneer + steering wheel control adapter? Can I leave D2B disconnected or should I use some kind of plug or dummy for it?
