How did you mount the Ballast

Hi

I am asking for those of you who had aftermarket HIDs
where did you put the ballast, can you post some pictures of where you mount the ballast.

Don't tell me to get bixenon, I don't think i will drop over 1k for headlights, so I just wanna see the pictures of those who had aftermarket kit installed.

thanks,
Michael

hey mike, i was also debating on HIDs since I cant find aftermarket projectors for the coupe.

I also wonder where does everyone mount their ballast, and also, since the headlamps are wired inside the headlight, so wouldnt the wires from the ballast have to plug into the original wires, and then the cover (the black cap) leave that open!?

you drill a hole in the black caps and feed the wires through there

My kit came with a metal strip that screwed onto the back of the ballast and then I drilled a hole on the radiator support over the headlight and screw the strip to that, has been fine for several months. As for the dust cap, never figured that out, left them off, no problems yet.

the caps already has the holes to run the bulbs/wires u mount the ballast anywhere in the engine bay or u can double face tape and screw it in the engine bay at the wheel well.

Do what the man says - i also advise at least using everything the kit comes with. I'd run some wires through the dust cap via drilling, but it isn't a necessity unless you live where rain is constant.

well, isnt there a "ballast" area under the headlights? as for my dust caps there are no holes, and I might drill the hole and mount ballast somewhere... I'd have to see about that!

I got mine from Carlab and they work well. http://www.carlabms.com/ I think they are $280 with free shipping. I got the 6300K ones and I like the color, a little bluer than a Lexus I was next to but not too blue. They also have 8000K if you want a deeper blue/purplish color. Factory xenons are 4300K which is considered white.

I've been considering an HID conversion and was directed to a kit at K1 Motorsports. $249 for the HID kit and you can get the DEPO there as well in chrome or black housings. I've been told the product is of highest quality and easy to install. If you're looking for the kit alone it's $249. Check it here...

Is the Wiring complicated? or just plug and play?

Don't know, just generic, what's the difference, it works. It's plug and play, no complicated wiring, can't wire it up wrong.

yah
there is difference, quality, warranty etc..
if there is no difference, then why not just get the $100 HID kit from ebay right.

that's why I ask
