your wrong on the heat issue. I suggested a penitum m since its intels laptop processor. the new ones produce significantly less heat for the processing speed they provided compared processors in the past. Due to the used of copper interconnects and smaller interconnects.

The old processors use to be .25um, the current ones are .06um. The ones comming out in July are going to be .045um.

To give you an idea, a pentium 75mhz processor from 15yrs ago produces around 8watts of heat or power useage.

A old pentium M 1.2 ghz .09um uses around 5.5watts of power.

Here's a list of wattage uses by processor. It also doesn't list the fact all new processors come with built in heat shields to allow for better heat transfer with the heatsinks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_power_dissipation
In my previous post I did agree with you on opting for pentium.
I said AMD generate more heat than pentium since the K6 vs pentium II.
I know the latest pentium operate at 5.5w and latest AMD operates at 8w which generate more heat than 5.5wwhere was it wrong?

i'm saying your wrong on heat being a issue. The active cooling on the computer cpu is superior to the cooling your car components are already receiving.

anything that generate heat can be an issue.
like i posted in a previous post i did burn my cousin's laptop in the car. I have tested my self at my own expense that any component that has been overheat will not function at optimum speed. I tested many amd k7 and burnt 2 of them. Didn't burn any pentium3 but all processors and hard drive i tested went slower after the over heat. Hdds make errors in writing process. In conclusion heat is an issue even for laptops, especially in summer time inside the car.

i don't think it does yet. i think mike said he wanted to get the verizon card, for the broadband. he told me that other people use google map once they have access to the innuhnet.

oh, mike and tien, your damn tech talk is hard for me to understand, LOL. so desktop components or laptop? i'm not going to leave the laptop in the car, if that helps.

cooling in a laptop is sub par compared to desktop cooling solutions. Also your comparing a 43watt athlon processor to a 5.5watt pentium M is a huge difference in cooling and power requirements. If you burnt out the athlons, either you didn't have a heatsink that could handle the thermal requirements or you were overclocking.

I use to run my old athlon 700mhz at 1ghz at 140 degrees without any issues.

Heat is not a issue if you know how to set it up correctly. I just link you to a whole website of people that do it every day without any problems.

i spoke to tommy about have a wirless card for internet. i didn't install my navi yet.

You don't need a wireless card for navi. if you have a idea what area's you want to use the navi for you can have google earth cache all the maps for you in your hdd so you dont need the internet. Do you however need a gps antenna.

There is a third party program that would do it for you, or you can just use regular navi software.

i usually recommend desktop components since there cheaper to build, easier to replace. But since you have a laptop already, all you really need is a dc to dc source to power the touch screen.

Then you can run vga and usb cabling to attach to your laptop. Probably under your seat or another location.

The point of the desktop story was that any components(hdd chipset and so on) that overheat still work but not at optimum speed.
Didn't I mention My cousin's laptop?

Anyways, Tommy doesn't leave it in the car so that's point less to continue.

by the way when is that project scheduled?

only black, obsidian black, bordeux red, and everest green for the sedan had the oyster option. they're not a popular color because it is the easiest color to get dirty.

they're common for the sportcoupe if they had the leather interior because there's only charcoal or oyster for the coupe's full leather option.
