W203/CL203 City Light Thread (LED, HID, bulbs) - All you want to know
Which one of these wedge bulbs do you think will produce the most "whiteness"?
Piaa's:
1.Xtreme white wedge bulb (19172)
2.Platinum Super white wedge bulb (19169)
3. Super Plasma wedge bulb (19170)
4. Plasma blue wedge (19171)
Any input on these or other bulbs would be great.
Thanks

1.Xtreme white wedge bulb (19172)===4100k(very white)
2.Platinum Super white wedge bulb (19169)===3800k(white but not as white than #1)
3. Super Plasma wedge bulb (19170)==4500-5000k(blueish white)
4. Plasma blue wedge (19171)===4500k(purplish white)
Go for #1 if you just want very very white. I believe thats the whitest you can get in the market. For 3 & 4, they bring colors along with white.

I have no.2 (19169) on my car... they looks cool and not yellow at all, because of the blue coating on the bulb, actually it created some blue colour.

If you are trying to match the xenons, then use the platinum (that's what I am using). The xtreme (#1) bulbs have too much of a blue hue. I bought them both to test.

There's a plastic cover that you have to take out first, then you've to unhook the frame. Its pretty tough to teach you in words, but the city light is located right below the high beam bulbs. So if you can find instructions to take out the high beam bulbs, follow the same steps but take out a different bulb.

newbie or not, it takes longer to post a thread to any website and wait for a useful reply than it takes to pull out the manual just beggin for use...

I've said this a million times before, but I don't mind saying it again...
W5W is actually a VERY common bulb that is used in 99% of all ricers out there. I didn't know that until I went to a store where the guy actually had the full handbook listing all the bulb size markings used by all manufacturers. It's used in virtually all C-class models, including W202 I think. Anyways...
The type of bulb you're looking for is called a "position marker" or a "position bulb". It's rated at 5W just like stock, and it looks about double the size of a christmas tree bulb. The fitting on the bottom is just a pair of contacts, no screw. You'll be able to find that bulb made by almost all ricer brands out there, such as B1-Hybrid, Raybrig, etc. Recently they made a version where they put an LED instead of a filament inside of that, but I have yet to see what it actually looks like when used.
Long story short: (1) go to ricer store, (2) ask for position markers, (3) install.

City Light replacement bulbs?
Hey, guys.
Does any one have a good suggestion on replacement of city bulbs? I have phillips Blue Vision all over the car but city lights.
Checked the model # on bulbs, it says 12v w5w. Isn't it euro model number?
I am pretty sure there is a something I can replace with a US model #ed bulbs and am thinking about like PIAA or something.
Many thanks in advance.

They're bulbs commonly known as "wedge" bulbs. They're found in virtually all Japanese cars, so they aren't really that hard to find if you know what you're looking for. They're normally referred to as "position markers" for Japanese cars. PIAA makes HID-style bulbs in that size, and I bought a pair for the city lights and another pair for the clear-corner side markers. Good luck!

i like the stock bulbs because they look the closest to OEM xenons.
