this is statement of what's covered under extended warranty...

19. CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM: Actuator/element, pneumatic check valve, switches and linkdages.

i need translation if this means it's covered...

The list shows items that ARE covered. What is not listed is NOT covered. The problem is what is meant by actuator/element etc. What I was trying to say is, without knowing what those terms mean and without knowing how the car and its parts are put together, it would be quite impossible for me to challenge the service adviser when s/he tells me what's wrong is due to something else. I would not know if this something else is actually included in the warranty. That's why I posted here to see if some technically savvy members could help out.

I had the same problem with my driver door lock just after the warranty ran out on my 02 C240. I replaced the door lock (part #203-720-01-35)mechanism myself. Took me about 3 hrs. to do the job. If you have extended warranty, I think it should be covered. I have added photos with directions of the part that I had replaced. This may help you with your warranty. Good luck with the dealership.

1st lite, thanks for the info. Where did you get the instructions and photos? I would like to get the ones for my 2002 C230K. Any idea where I can find them?

Cool

Hi mj50, definitely let us know. You and I are apparently in the same boat. I'll also try to call another dealer in Houston and see what they have to say.

Cool

btw, what is WIS?

Congratulations! This is great news. I would like to have a copy of the invoice if you don't mind scanning it. I have no luck with the dealers in Houston. I just sent an email to MBUSA. But I believe acopy of an invoice would be the best argument/evidence. BTW, did you have to hag with the stealers?

thx.
they said if it was actuator that's gone bad, then yes it's covered under warranty. but, they wouldn't know until they actually inspect my car. in the worse case, if it wasn't covered, i had to pay for the loaner. luckily, everything worked out.

It would be nice to know from your invoice what parts they actually replaced. It does not seem that anyone here knows what exactly is THE actuator, and whether it is part of an assembly that includes other parts that need to be replaced. It would be of great help if you would scan your invoice so I can take it with me. Thanks.

Hey coolshades,
You can get all the information and photos from the "DVD Service Manual" for the W203. Part #P-2700-203-06
Order it direct from their website. wwwmbusa.com or phone 1800-FOR-MERCEDES. Cost is $60 (plus $5 shipping) in the USA.
If you do a lot of work on your vehicle, this might help you out.
BTW. I believe the "door actuator" is one piece, the one in the photo I supplied in post #30.

Unhappy

Thanks 1st lite for your info. The C230K, and seems like Mercedes, is having quite a number of annoying problems that I'm seriously thinking about getting the dvd.

Thanks for the copy of the invoice. I'll go to the local stealers and see if I have better luck with this invoice in hands.

Well, I took the kompressor this morning to another dealer in town. I got a call this afternoon for the SA who said it was definitely the actuator, and the work "should" be covered by the extended warranty. The car should be ready tomorrow afternoon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Cool

hey guys, just a question about door locks.

Does yoiur central unlock not work when the car is off? For my car, the central door unlock "by opening the door" does not work when the car is off, it only works when the key is still in or when the car is still on...

wtf is going on here?

I got the car back this evening. It's fixed and NO COST, covered by extended warranty. I compared the items changed, same as mj50's. Hey mj50, thank you for your support and help.

Cloudz, my problem was the driver door lock cycled for about 4 times and, depending on luck, the car would lock. It happened whenever the door lock was activated, either when the car gets to 9 mph, I pressed the car's lock button, or tried to lock the door using the remote, regardless whether the car was on or off. I did not have a problem similar to yours. You might want to start a thread and let the experts help you. Good luck.
