I'm glad to hear that you'd rather tackle the problems then get annoyed with the car and trade it for something else John. Hope the assembly solves the problem

I agree. I hope to continue to read about your car well into the future, even after mine has gone on to a future owner.

Just to keep this all together:

SkankZ is suffering exactly the same problem with the speed sensor & P2767 code. His has now deteriorated to permanent limp mode. John PM'ed you.

I have discussed this issue locally - That's all I'm prepared to say on open forum because we have threats of litigation this end after our W204 brake ABS Module failure and pedal going to floor that is documented on the W204 forum. I don't care - we have our beans in a row.

See this post of mine to W204 forum:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...-question.html

IMHO MB must pay for entire ECM/electrohydraulic unit/valve body replacement.

So, the fan debacle has been crazy. So, on my last post you can see I ordered the fan from Parts.com. I was contacted by them that my order was cancelled because the part was not available from any distribution center in the US or Germany, and there was no ETA of when they would have new stock.

So, I called MB USA to find out what the hell the deal was. So, they said they would do some research and call me back. Less than an hour later they called me back and gave me the following information:

My fan assembly part# is 2035001693. Most older 203's and some early 2007's use 2035000293. According to some aftermarket research I did the 2035001693 is listed as a 3 wire assembly, but that is not the case (some database error). Mine is the same 4 wire assembly as the 2035000293. I never was able to figure out if there is any difference between the 2. So, when I looked for aftermarket fan assemblies, supposedly none of them would work on my car. That meant I had to get one from MB. MB USA told me that the dealers should have the information and that fan had to be ordered via "Special Procurement". That is all the info I could get from them and my dealer. So, I looked at MB of Annapolis, and they showed the fan in stock, so I ordered from them. 1 week later I had the new fan assembly at my door. Last night I installed it and it works great. I will do a write-up for the forum soon. I did find the controller on the original was made by Temic and the new is by Brose. The part has been revised obviously. So finally after over 2 weeks I am FINALLY driving my car again

Perseverance is a virtue. Enjoying those lovely PNW roads during August is your payback.

Thanks guys, it sure does feel good to have it back. After going back to driving it after driving the Jeep and the Nissan for 2 weeks, I really realize how much I love driving the car. That is the big reason why I stick it out with these issues.

Next on my agenda for it, is a full detail with paint correction, and paint touch up. I did correction on the hood of about 85-90%, and it just made the rock chips stick out more, so I am going to work on touching up the hood, and bumper, then continue the correction on the whole car.

Nissan

So, a little off topic, but I wanted to share this with my forum friends here:

That is my 1991 Nissan Sentra SE, that I sadly just sold today. My wife and I bought that brand new in February 1991. It was hard to let it go, but we have had it for almost 21 years, it was time to let it go and move on. As you can see from the pics it has been a 21 year labor of love. She will be missed

That Nissan looks really good! Around that time I was in the market for a car, and my choice was that SE-R, perhaps a NX2000, or a Acura Integra. I had my Integra until I got my Coupe in 2002. I buy my cars, and drive the doors off them. I think I put some 200k miles on that car.

How did the wife manage to get you to sell? Did the new owner get documentation like you have for the Benz? Good pics on some of the mods. Those fogs and wheels really add to the lines of the car. I always thought the car was a bit boxy, but the dark color and hard lines of the wheel really show off the sexy curves on the edges.

That was a sweet ride. Thanks for sharing.

Ed

Man that was a clean car for just being legal to drink . Someone got one in incredible shape. Thanks for sharing - I know it is hard to let them go sometimes.

Ed, believe it or not, that was my wife's 1st car. She drove it for the 1st 10 years and only put about 50K on it. Then when we got a job together, we carpooled in it every day up until we bought the C230 over 4 years ago. Sadly, since then it rarely has been driven.

About 8 years ago, I decided to start modding it, and it was all downhill from there. I never had the ***** to add up how much I had in it, but it was A LOT! It had an automatic transmission that acted up on occasion, so I decided to swap it out with a 5 speed manual. That swap landed the car in Nissan Performance Magazine. While I had it apart for the transmission swap, I pretty much replaced and upgraded everything. I had the mentality, of "well, I have this apart, I might as well replace this while I am at it".

The new owner is my ex boss, and he got a HUGE box of all the documentation Also, the trunk filled with spare parts, and many new parts that never got installed. He got a great deal, IMO.

The fog lights are in the same spot as the OEM SE-R ones, and have a very similar shape. The headlights and grille are OEM from a brand new Nissan Tsuru, which is currently being sold in Mexico. Believe it or not, it is the same B13 chassis that the 1991-1994 Sentra was. The new lights are incredible compared to the original OEM ones.

As fun as it is to drive, I have outgrown it. Guess I am getting old

Yeah, that is the original paint. Most 1991-1994 Sentras have the failing clear coat issue. The beauty of black on this Sentra, is it is single stage. Makes for polishing easy.

I spent 2 weekends with the Porter Cable DA, Meguires M105, Menzerna FF106, and Menzerna Power Lock Sealant. Came out pretty damn good, if I do say so

Mods

And a brief list of most of the major mods:

Motor: SE-R Throttle body, SE-R MAF, Hotshot SE-R CAI, Hotshot Header and custom catback w/ Magneflow, JWT cams, Custom ECU tuning, SE-R injectors, and Prothane Mounts.

Suspension: Custom shortened Koni's, Hypercoil custom springs, Progress Swaybars, ES poly bushings throughout, Progress LCA brace, Whiteline caster bushings, Cusco strut tower brace, Rota Subzero wheels, and Michelin PS2 tires, and of course highly tweaked alignment.

Brakes: NX2000 Front brake swap, stainless braided lines, Brembo rotors, and Carbotech Bobcat pads. SE-R rear disc swap, brembo rotors, and axxis ultimate pads.

That is just a small sampling of the mods. It would eat stock SE-R's for lunch, and keep up with some lightly modded ones.

JWT? Is that Jim Wolf? Years ago he had some work in Bosch Jetronic FI system, and I was desperate to get more power in a FI Bosch L Jetronic system on a X1/9. But knowledge of a complete system at the time was very hush hush.

Whoever bought that car got a good deal I'm sure.

I detect some Glyn Ruck **** Virgo traits in Mr Anderson.

My light grey leather is easier to maintain than John's light grey fabric. Must have been some rules in that car. No---, No---, No--- etc.

EDIT: Where is the Touareg?

Ed, yes Jim Wolf. Pretty much the premier tuner in the Nissan world.

Close, **** Capricorn

There were rules, but my wife was consistently breaking them I just have become very good at detailing. It has become a hobby of mine over the years, and so my vehicle generally get cleaned once a week.

We have had some life changes recently, and the Touareg never came to be. We are possibly relocating, or if I have my way we are buying a big *** boat. So, we are going to buy a little cheaper dog hauler/winter rig. If all goes well we will have a nice used Tiguan in the driveway tonight.

Great! - nothing wrong with a Tiguan & less of a huge tank. I like the idea of a big *** boat. Then you will understand how cheap a Benz is to maintain

Enjoy

ps. Just done the weekly car clean & she is back under cover in the garage. Time for a drink!

The diesel Tiguan has a very good write up here. Ride /handling balance & great economy. The boot is said to be lacking space.

Tiguan

New winter rig/dog hauler:

2009 Tiguan SEL 4Motion. 2.0L Turbo, 6speed auto, panoramic roof, leather, etc. Got a damn good deal.

Yes Carsy, the cargo area is a little small, but for just my wife and I and occasionally the dogs (seats folded), it works just great. Doesn't take up much room in the garage, and appears to be almost as fuel efficient as the Benz so far.

Dealer pics for now until I can give it a real proper detail.
