When changing the radio station with the steering wheel, it goes to the next frequency instead of the next preset. Does anybody know if there is a setting so that when you press the up or down button that it goes to the next preset? I looked in the manual but could not find it anywhere. I have a 2006 c230. Thanks in advance.

That option is not possible. It will just scan for the next station not a preset.

i have an 05 but i'm pretty sure it does that for me. maybe i'm tripping out.

the got rid of that feature i believe in 05 models. they said "older" people got confused when changing the channels and so they changed it.

My friend just got the 07 and it has the preset option once again..really confusing..cause my 05 doesn't have it but all of my previous MBs had this option..maybe its something they could turn on or off from the dealer?

Yep, my 07 can switch from preset to preset. But I thought my 04 did that too.

My 04 does it. It's in the settings menu from the steering wheel. You can choose to scan presets or scan freqs.

I think that there is a menu that you can access through the steering wheel that will allow you to choose between presets or frequency.

Bingo. You have to program for presets to get the scan-up function to hop to them.
I don't know who "they" are, but it certainly is not the engineers at MB. So, this is nonsense... "older" people have favorite radio stations just like younger people. I even suspect more so, since the older group listens to radio more, while the younger gen gravitates to the CD player, iPod, etc. Which brings us to...
With the difference in audio levels between the head unit radio and iPod, it makes sense that a driver picks one or the other... Unless you're quick to adjust the volume, switching from iPod to radio can be a bit painful on the ears.

Yeah, I don't listen very much to the radio, but when I do it's annoying that it won't go from preset to preset. I went through all the settings through the steering wheel and could not find anything. I guess they did take this out for 06.

so can the 05 be programmed through the steering wheel or is that a feature reserved for 04 models? if so, can someone give the 05 owners instructions on how to do it. Certainly couldnt find it in the owners manual.

I have also can not find it in the settings? Sucks...my RX you can change preset to preset...much better that way...IMHO.

yes there is but it doesn't work. LOL! believe me i tried to get this to work for a couple months. dealership said they changed it after 04. read: they broke it after 04.

Are you sure??? Because I had an 05 C230 as a loaner for a lil over a month-- back when I had the coupe-- and I went into the menu and changed it to switch through the presets.

oh definately sure about the 05 cannot change that option..really is annoying..so this is the timeline for this option..

2001-2004 and then 2007 for some reason the 05 and 06 owners get screwed

That is really odd. I am almost positive that I changed the setting in the 05 loaner I had, but then again I could be imagining it.

Maybe it's something that can be programmed in through Star Diagnose? Good question for Steve.

You may have changed the setting in the menu but did you try to change the presets with the buttons? It still doesn't do it. Freaking MB put the setting there but its useless.

you need to ask the stealership to update your software. might not even have the same version in canada.
