Installing Kumho Ecsta ASX's!

I'm bored.

And I'm having brand new Kumho Ecsta ASX's installed on me Benz soon, so I'll write up a review. After researching so many tires, TireRack recommended these as the best Performance All Season tires, seeing how none of our stock C230's can even use much of the High-Performance tires offered by PS2's IMHO.

Besides, I didn't feel like spending $200/tire for freaking Michelins. That and the OEM Primacy's suck, and left a bad impression with me.

That is all.

How were they on treadwear? I hope they last longer than 16k miles. I had these OEM Pilot Primacy's on my car since I had the car new with 10 miles on it, and it started crapping out at around 15k miles with average driving.

I think something's up with the alignment; it might have contributed to the rapid disintegration of my OEM tires. My front passenger side tire is all cracked up and bald, versus my front drivers side, which is just going bald. The rears aren't too bad, but are balding out as well. And this is with NORMAL driving. I don't peel out or drive aggressively at all.

Wtf!

I had my Kumho's installed by Park Place MB in Dallas today. I went ahead and asked them to balance them, and have the car aligned, to make sure my new tires don't get screwed up again.

The cost?

$300+ to have it all done.

WTF?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did the same thing to my old 2001 Accord, and it cost around $100.00. The alignment alone was $270.00. What the hell do they DO for an alignment that would make it cost so damn much????

Effin' space-age computer alignment BS. I bet you guys that it won't even be done correctly, and the car will STILL pull to the right.

I got Falken Ziex from Sears. Those Pilot Sports are too expensive for the C230. If I and a C350 Sport or an AMG I would be wearing those 24/7 or even Goodyear Eagle F1.

You went ahead and had them balanced and an alignment? You went ahead? These is BASIC maintenance to have done whenever you have your car's tires replaced. BASIC. Likely you hit a pothole and that is what chewed up your old tires.

As for your cost on the alignment, yes I agree, you need to get a detailed break down on the service provided to you. Perhaps they changed something? I think something is fishy with the cost. Last alighment I had done was $90 bucks at tirewarehouse.com. Fletcher Jones MB wanted $150.

I know people put Kumho whatever on the car, but these are cheap tires.

The ASX's were my second set of kumhos. I sold the car shortly after i got them on. The first set were the Kumho Ecsta 711's. The lasted about 10k, mainly because i experience slight negative camber wear because of my lowering springs. Had i not had negative camber, they may have lasted up to 15k.
