Aftermarket Radio Questions

Hi all,
I just happened across this forum today and this looks like the place to be! I have been thinking of upgrading my radio to something that will support the new HD radio that is emerging. My question is first, are there any aftermarket radios that will work with my steering wheel controls and instrument cluster display? I have an '03 C240 4matic sedan. Or does anyone know if MB might be offering an HD radio upgrade? I'm not sure where to even start researching this. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Shane

Over the past couple months I've noticed that most of the major radio stations up here in WA have been adding a little blurb like "Now broadcasting in HD radio" (add appropriate echo here)

As I know there is only one aftermarket unit that will work with steering wheel conrols and display and that is an OEM IPod adapter. If you remove the HU forget about convenience features

sirenebekim, that thing is $315 For that money I would take time and effort to tap into HU

My AVIC-Z1 works with my steering wheel controls, but it doesn't display radio info on my cluster.

Holy crap dude you're such a negative little punk. It seems like every other time I see you post it's to say something negative. How about being helpful with your suggestions? Why not be a little polite? Why couldn't you have said "hey has someone thought about tapping into the HU? Rather than paying that much I'd give it a try myself"

For my money, $315 is a fairly reasonable price to pay for a fibre-optic to RCA adapter. Everything associated with MB seems to cost a bundle and this unit probably took a decent amount of R&D.

I've heard some stuff here and there about the HD radio but haven't had a chance to look into it. I've got sirius in my car (buddy i bought it from prepaid for 2 years, WOOT! and the car has an Avid D2 unit in it) and I'm pretty darn happy with that.
