heard they are pretty good, but quite expensive if you compare to oem, if you are happy with oem, then just stick with it, since it's pretty cheap as well
you can get both front and rear pads for around 100

I've used Hawk HPS and HP+ race pads combined with Brembo rotors.. They're an excellent pad and will provide much more stopping power over stock. Keep in mind they squeek a little bit when you tap the brakes and don't get on them. This is due to their compound.

I love my Porterfields. I've had them for over 1.5 years and they've been great. Good breaking power. Less dust than stock. No squeaking until most recently.

I'm close to needing to replace the rotors and pads, so I'm probably gonna do an upgrade (Keep that in mind for those of you that would be interested in 2004.5 4 piston calipers).

I've had the R4-S pads installed now for about 3 months. No squeal, great stopping power (even cold), and almost no dusting (dust-caked wheels are now a distant memory).

I also got mine from Jerry at Formymercedes.com, and the customer service was 1st class.

I have Porterfield R4-S on both my C230 and my S2000. Great stopping power, less dust. I've had the Hawks before and the Porterfields IMO stop better.

the 2004.5 4 piston calipers are the same as the c32 ones no? so they use the same pads as the c32s. thats the 4 piston. otherwise i think its a toss-up for what kind of brakes the 2004.5 get. some are lucky and get the 4 piston, others got the newer 2005 brakes, 2 piston (?).
porterfields are quite expensive. um...was it razrfish or someone who was testing them out for the 2005's. price is around 200 or was it higher for porterfields? and he didn't recommend them. that threads somewhere...
i looked into hawks and they are around 80ish for the ceramics. and a few dollars less for the non-ceramics.
searched and found this post: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/173299-ceramic-brake-pads-05-c230ss.html

Not sure how much I'll sell them for, but when I get my brake upgrade, I'll post them up in the classifieds.
