I can vouch for that Citron C230K... it's one awesome ride, and worth every penny. If Doug still has it for sale, someone should jump on it right away.

I'm just not ready to jump on the hybrid bandwagon. MAYBE a Camry Hyrbid, but the Prius is just funky. Its all about personal taste and I respect that. In 2001, I bought an '01 VW TDI New Beetle that had plenty of spunk, options, and minimal maintenance. The worst mileage I got out of it was 44 in town w/air on and the best was 52mpgs. Then again, back then diesel was actually below $1/gal. If I had to get another, I'd definitely produce my own bio-diesel.

Here is the link to the thread here on the forums, https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...18#post2769518

Maybe this person can be contacted. This car also has the folding (convex) side mirrors .
It's been sold. I think $15,500 or something like that.
Probably the best all-around Citron C230K out there...
tons & tons of OEM MB mods...
sad to see it go !

My Z4 has given me some minor issues lately so a new car may very well be in my near future.

Yeh, I noticed the headlights looked a little foggy.
My car is approaching 130K miles and running great...
but I have just done a whole bunch of stuff to keep it that way,
like flushing the tranny and diff, a new SC, rebuilt alt, new belts, battery (needed soon, still on the original 6+ years) etc. + 2005 updates.
It would have cost a ton if I hadn't DIY'd. (and even then, it wasn't cheap)
so likely you'd be looking at most of that to keep it alive.

My SC hadn't failed, but I had to remove it to repair a leaky manifold gasket, so figured I'd do it while I was in there. Picked one up on ebay for 625 and sold my old one for $250. Not bad eh? Neither had the alternator, but I pulled it anyway and dropped it at an auto electric shop.
The brushes were nearly gone. They rebuilt it with all new electricals and bearings for $150.

The M111 is a good engine.

But yeh, I wouldn't buy a car with that many miles without seeing it.

I'm REALLY picky! My 2003 Z4 3.0i is approaching 23k. The '03 325i that I sold my mom has around 10k on it now, and the '97 328i that I sold in February had 47k when I sold it.

I'm not scared of a higher mileage car, but I'd want it at a significant value, I'd want proof of maint. etc. Just because a car has low miles doesn't mean that its been taken care of.

I had a '96 328ic last year that had 22k actual miles when I bought it in April '07. I had to put a new soft top on it and the clear coat was peeling from the hood where it had set outside in the heat without wax. Fortunately, the car had been serviced at a BMW dealership so I knew it was mechanically sound. I gave $7k for the car, spent $1,150 for a new top and installation (DIY w/help from parents). I drove for it for a couple of month and for craps and giggles, I put it on Craigslist one day for $14,900 and sold it to the first person who inquired about it [10 minutes later] for $14,300.

Cars aren't investments but I've owned 32 and have lost money on MAYBE 3...Not counting gas, oil changes, insurance, etc and typical costs associated with owning ANY vehicle.

I'd love to say that I'd keep a well-kept, sharp Citron Green C230 but if someone came along with the right money, it would theirs.

I'm still toying with the idea of buying a LIGHTLY damaged coupe/sedan, repairing the damage myself, stripping it down, and painting Citron Green. A rebuilt title doesn't scare if I do the repairs myself. I've still got my eye on the '02 Coupe w/23k that I can probably pick up for $4,500...Its STILL tied up in arbitration. I have the skills to fix up one, a place to do the bodywork and access to the tools, but I'd probably have to rent a paint booth.

An 02 coupe with 23K miles fo 4500? Sweet.
I saw one ebay with a very slightly damaged fender for for
5 grand recently. Nice thing with these cars, the front fender bolts on.

Of course, it took about 75K miles for the dealer to get all the bugs out of mine, under warranty. Which is why I decided to keep it, when recently the door got caved in and needed 2500 in body work (insurance paid for it).

I seriously thought about picking up one with lower miles, and transfering everything over, but it seems to be running better than ever now.

It WILL need some work and it may go for even less. The good thing is that it went HIGH over the front frame/unibody rails (still needs to go on a frame machine to be sure everything is 100%) and the airbags are good. Starts, runs, and moves on its own power.

Hood, bumper cover, grilles, right fender, core support w/cooling, throw on some C7 wheels, citron green paint job, and xenon kit - Have it back on the road for around $8k maybe a bit less. The key is doing the labor myself and saving the $$$$

Check alanchan (my buddy). I know he's looking at selling his 2002 citron. (look up farther up the thread) It's auto, but pretty much in pristine condition. You'll have to import it though.

Wait until May 5, buy a white C230K....drink a lot of margueritas and eat a pound of guacamole...the end result will be similar.
