Coupe 16" tires

has anybody replaced the 16" MXV squealers? With what? size? The Tire Rack's site indicates that 225/50s are close to the number of revs per mile. They have some yoko AVS for just $60 ea. I know it s an old design but its cheap and still soft. Does the star diag have a screen for tire size?

How many miles did your 16" tires wear out in?

hmm, 225/50's are too much on the 16's (3.5% difference from stock). Double check your inputs before you buy those tires.

Hi Buellwinkle..only 17k now with plenty of tread..just sick of squelling around bends (benz?). Did you get that K&N from the Hong Kong guy? I'm still sitting on the ITG awaiting some concensus.
Hi Who dog..You may be right, I might just go with stock size, but sticky. Hoping for forum input, thanks The Tire Rack list an equal diameter of 25" for the Mich MXV4+ 205/55/16 and the Yoko AVS Int. in 225/50/16. revolutions per mile are: Mich=831 Yoko=829.

WhoDog: I don't think Hobie was talking about the overall diameter or overall Revs per mile. I believe he was talking about the width of the tire. I think the 225's are too wide for the rims. A 245 will fit on the C7 rims but only in back.

225/50/16 is the largest size that can fit on a 7" rim. I'm thinking about getting the AVSs too. I had them on my Z and loved them, for $60 you can throw them out if you don't like them.

My bad, it was late last night when I responded 225/50's are only .1% off.
Here is a link that gives tire size calculation percentage differences:

I believe the width is OK. I had a SVO with 16x7 and 225/50 16 stock size in 1986. Larry from the Tire Rack had a note in his data base that anything greater than a 40 positive offset would rub the strut. Our factory wheels are 37 positive (OK).

your right mdp, so f.i., I ordered the Yokos, $276 w shipping. I hope they get here in time for my Mon. appt. for the sunroof shade deal. I'll be the forum guinea pig on this one. As long as we're talking beer money...what does everyone drink? Molson Canadian or Stoli greyhounds for me..or Cuervo..or...a poll?

225/60/16s are available as an option in europe on the stock rim size so it won't be a problem.

No rubbing, no squealing, no complaints. Treadwear rating is just 140, but they sure do stick!
