Sad Badge Story

I have been reading a lot about badges here on this forum (Thanks to RahStyles) and I have a sad "badge" story. I know someone who bought a brand new 06 CL500 from a dealership. This person doesn't know any thing about mercedes and bought the car because he could (has a lot of $$$) The car is stock, the only thing the dealership did was put on some chrome AMG wheels. The car has an AMG badge and a Kompressor badge on it. Now I am no expert myself but I did have an SLK 230 Kompressor and learned that a Kompresssor was a supercharger (correct me if I am wrong). My car had the badge and a supercharger! His CL500, from what I can see has a Kompressor badge and no supercharger. As far as the AMG badge goes, I learned that the CL55 not the CL500 is the AMG model.

Do you think the Stealership saw this guy coming and put all these badges on so he would think he was getting more than what he was actually paying for. Again, he knows nothing about mercedes....

If he knew not of Mercedes, then how would he know of AMG or what Kompressor stands for

LMAO - i wanted to debadge my dad c55, so when im in it, people will think im in the 240 - BUUUUUUTTTTTT then he may kill me if he ever found out. I just hate ricers knowing that its an amg by the badge - i would rather them just know it was by knowing already, or finding out the hard way.

Haha definitely, my dad would die if I debadged the CL600.

And about the guy that got AMG badges and KOMPRESSOR badges, he most likely requested that they put on the badges. Since he doesn't know anything about Mercedes, he can't tell the difference between an AMG model and a regular model, so he thinks he'll be able to pass it off.

lol. good thing my dad doesn't see any of these. Whenever I do a mod, he can point out everything. nevermind more noticeable things like flat hood, debagde..etc. even changing to stealth bulbs he would notice. I guess having a car crazy dad can be +/-. haahahha

Yeah my dad is like that, but he is more just a flagship guy. z06/ rs4/ amg guy. Could care less about the looks as long as he thinks hes gettin the top of the line, he figures it already has, or should have that stuff in it. Luckly for me he doenst notice the small stuff on the 55. Amg grill badges and what not.

I would debadge any one of the Mercedes. Owning one to me is not about showing everyone what you have, its enjoying it yourself. And sometimes suprising the heck out of some unsuspecting teen aged driver. I would take a c55 and debadge it and put a baby seat in the back, with the baby on board. With the suction cup blinds on the side windows. And scare the heck out of some Honda driver.

If the ricer is somewhat intelligent he may notice the dual exhaust.

amg w203's are rare around here. most are e or s55's. Plus side by side, i doubt they are looking at your exhaust.

they'll see EITHER (AMG or non-amg) exhausts...as they'll be seeing my rear end all the way to the next stoplight.

A mate of mine is a builder, he switched the sign around so now it reads "BOARD ON BABY"

my dad is the same way, i added xenon's on my old C230 Coupe, and an AMG bumper, he was like wow ur car looks nice, he thought the car came like that from the factory. and the best part was he was there when i picked up the car so he knew my car did not look like that when i bout it. but after some time he figured out that i had moded my car.

Any smart person would know, just by the sound. It's the kids that think their car is "so fast" that it can beat anything that would get schooled.

I saw a CLK today and it had an AMG badge on the left rear side of the car. Isn't the badge supposed to be on right if it was genuine? I mean, it didnt look to have an amg body kit or anything and was basically all stock looking...musta been a poser

Yup, that was a poser. I really don't know why people do this.
