Windshiedl crack repair

This morning while getting off the freeway a rock hit my passenger side windsheild and cracked it about 6". I was looking at the internet and found a place in Orange, California called U.S. Windshield Repair. They claim that they can fix a crack up to 24".

My question to you guys is, has anyone here used this type of repair service? How good of a repair is it? Would you recommend me use them or just bite the bullet and have the entire windshield replaced?

Thanks for your comments.

Happened to my car when it was 2 mos old. Got crack fixed by Safelite for $65.00. They guaranteed it and it lasted 6-8 mos, then crack started to spread. They deducted the repair price from windsheild replacement.
They told me a crack any bigger than a dollar bill cant be fixed. Good luck======john

Just have it replaced. A repaired crack is still visible, it just doesn't spread.

6" is gonna be pretty noticeable even if you get it fixed. I have a crack on my windshield that I had repaired that is smaller than the size of a dime and the thing sticks out to me like a sore thumb. If I was in your position I'd bite the bullet and get a new windshield.

dealer didn't do it. had to find a glass repair shop that specialized in MB and made sure they ordered the windshield from MB (OEM). matched all of my other windows so it was genuine.

total came out to be just above $500 for the whole thing. looks like it was never replaced

Sounds like my car. I have had the crack for almost a year. A stone hit the top near the edge and it cracked to the edge. Once it cracks to the edge you can't seal it. I'll replace it someday but would rather use the money on mods. It doesn't bother me since its on the passenger side. Maybe i'll replace it after all my mods are done or once it spreads to the other edge. Its not ugly it just gives my car character.

I was on the same boat and replaced the whole thing using insurance. Thank God I had glass coverage.. I learned that my windshield with rain sensor cost almost $700 (MSRP) while any windsheild w/o rain sensor cost 'round $250.
