My dealer was willing to install the HID kits. They wanted about 1 1/2 hours labor based on what I told him but wanted to see the instructions first for a better estimate.

Fake Xenon (HID looks)

I just pick up my order of H7 Bulb from Summit. I order Ultra White and Ultimate White. I try both of them on and I like the Ultra White. It look a little blue little white. The Ultimate White is all white and still have some yellow light on the road. There are 70W and only $20 for a pair.

Post pics! Isn't the wattage for the H7 bulbs supposed to be 55W?

I did took the pictures but my poor picture/movie camera can't tell the difference. The stock are 55W both of these are 70W and some of them are 100W.

What is a stock Euro bulb? I'm afraid that the wire and relay might be too small to handle that much watts.

Sometimes the fake xenon bulbs are actually 55w but they boast 70w or 100w "look". But still, be careful. I wouldn't use higher than the recommended 55w.

I am surprised to hear they would do the installation. I guess they haven't read the Federal regulations, or possibly there are limited or no penalties for it.

Can anyone tell me why my HID's shine purple. I assumed it will be a tint of purple (but still shine white). Do you guys think it has something to do with the len's since the c-class len's arnt that clear???? Im just worried that i might get pulled over, because its light purple in every angle.

9000°K HID's are producing light at the higher (violet) end of the visible spectrum and will look purple. It has nothing to do with the lens.

You run the risk of damaging your lamp housing and blowing a fuse by using higher wattage bulbs. You'll feel a significant heat increase from the new bulbs.

A few months ago, I changed my 5W license plate bulbs to the 10W ones and guess what?

The lens heated up so much that it started to melt! And when I lock the car, the lights don't flash 3x. They stopped flashing. I thought I blew a fuse or something. So I turned it back to stock and everything was back to normal. I had to spend $8.00 to replace the melted lens.

Thats true Boo2. Do people really thing the bulb connector will give 2x the power its meant to? No it will not. Now bulbs such as Phillips Vision Plus bulbs are still 55w but the give off more lumens (more light) Those are great for fog lights, but are a very yellow color. Then the Phillips Vision bulbs are great for the low/high beams

Is that mean I can use 70W right, because it's actually only 55W.

Bulbs are advertised in two ways:

1. 70Watts rated (actual wattage is 70w)
2. 55W = 70W (bogus; actual wattage is 50w)

Do not use a bulb that is higher wattage than what is recommended.

Fast Cars!
i have 100watt fake xenon on my c230 and i take the bulb out alot to check the wires and housing and noting seems wrong and i use the lights alot.

I just dont want to spend my money on buy a kit from Hids4less its not worth the money its better just to get it from the factory but its not an option on the coupe.

I have the Factory Xenons on My CLK and i love them.

you ever thought of getting the OPEL clear guard on the lenses. Its not supposed to dim the lights but it might dull the purple a little bit. Just a thought/

Question Seeking real Xenon coupe fanatics...

I retrofitted the Euro Elipsoid headlights and H1 HIDs on my old Bimmer. Now I want to do the same (in concept) on the Coupe.

Have any of you done this?

I know that the dealer has to set the Xenon code, but what other experiences are out there?

What kind of costs?

How does the beam pattern look?

Do you get flashes from oncoming cars?

I am very aware of the color differences and bulb types having done this before - albeit on a bimmer. Please share!
