Thanks a lot! Combine my thread with other threads with dead links,
no info at all. And no, there is nothing in the DIY FAQ sticky about bumpers.
Just f'ing great.

I've contributed, taken pics, and written DIY's.
Is it too much to ask if anyone has removed the rear bumper of a coupe?
I could use some help here.

I'll be doing it tomorrow, no matter what, and at this point, I won't be putting the DIY here or the pics.

Sorry, but your thread topic didn't deserve a thread since this topic has been discussed before. I should've posted to indicate that these threads had been merged. Even though the links are dead, I'm trying to keep everything organized so it helps to re-post in threads that have been already discussed so that newbies that do come on board can find information via "search" more easily (using advanced search on thread topics).

Sorry if that upset you, but it makes things easier for the entire w203 forum to find info.

Has it? (been discussed) Are you sure?
OK, so show me in this useless thread exactly where it talks about the process of removing the rear bumper of on a coupe?
OK, how about somewhere else on this site?

If it did, I wouldn't have bothered to ask the question, nor would I have started a new thread.

This thread is of no use whatsoever and provides no info, to me, the members, or any newbies.
Quality input and helping others is what makes sites like this function and have any value at all, and that content comes from members, including me. And I've helped a lot of newbies I might add.

Just need a little info myself, that currently does not exist on this site.
Merging my thread into this mismash of crap doesn't help anyone.
I'll figure it out on my own.

Besides, screw the newbies. They may contribute in the future, but
not yet. Quality input and helping others is what makes sites like this function and have any value at all, and that content comes from members, including me. And I've helped a lot of newbies I might add.

I completely understand where you are coming from. I'm aware that there isn't a DIY for the rear bumper. This just keeps things organized in here for the time being (until someone does post a DIY). If you'd like to volunteer a DIY, that's fine by me and I'll put that in the AFTERMARKET/DIY sticky thread when that is completed. But until there is one, I'm just trying to keep everything in order and prevent duplicate threads. This thread was actually requested to be merged by several other members.

For now, there isn't a DIY thread for the rear bumper and hopefully there is someone that can reply to this thread that has removed their rear bumper before. My suggestion would be to PM mig888. I'm pretty sure he has removed his rear bumper before. He could probably help you with the info you need.

EDIT: Hey, nothing against newbs.
But it's a rare thing when they are major contributors on the 1st few posts.
By the 20th or so post, well they aren't newbs anymore.
And if I really felt 'screw them' I wouldn't take the time to help them the way I do. My bad. Got carried away.

Nah, I understand...trust me. I knew where you were coming from and it's veteran members like yourself, that allow for them to have the information that is already available to them. The main thing is, I wanted the w203 forums to be as easy to navigate as possible and the only way to maintain that is to continue merging threads that are related in subject matter. Unfortunately, your thread fell into that category (despite the threads still lacking a DIY or solid information as to "how" it's done).

That being said, if/when someone does a DIY for the rear bumper removal, I guarantee I will add that to the AFTERMARKET/DIY sticky. It's just a matter of having that one person that will take the time to do it for the benefit of the rest of the board. I've never done it, so I couldn't give you a DIY.

Arrow Now that's the spirit !

My rear bumper on the Coupé has been removed several times,
and my bad for not documenting the step-by-step process.
But oh, my gosh. It is much more simple than you think. Yes, instructions would be nice, but really, it doesn't take much to figure it out. They're only nuts & bolts for goodness sakes....

Try taking apart the rear bumper on a C-Sedan, you will not have fingers by the time you are done. I nearly lost my hand. There are 2 almost unreachable bolts in the metal frame that holds the rear bumper.

Yes, there is NO DIY Coupé rear bumper removal instructions on this thread, but you can be the hero , and add it to this thread. That is why the threads were merged: So that ALL bumper removal instructions were in ONE place. If there had been a Coupé rear bumer removal DIY, then obviously someone would have responded. Now the chances of that happening are much better in this thread, than in 12 different threads asking the same empty question with no answers from the cricket & frog gallery.

Next time my Coupé rear bumper comes off, I'll take pics and post DIY instructions just like I myself have done with other Coupé parts, many many times on these forums.

If it makes you feel any better, I am constantly asking that a lot of these threads are merged together for the ultimate benefit of all MBWorld members.
So if you're going to blame someone, blame me.

Now, let's get that Coupé rear bumper off........... next time I do it, (not sure when, if ever) I'll take pics and post DIY instructions.

Carlos, I can't say I'm surprised that you would chime in and actually offer to do DIY, considering ALL the stuff for the coupes that you've taken lots of pics for in your own "A La Mode" thread!...LOL. Always supportive and generous of your installs w/pics throughout the years. That will continue to be appreciated.

While I was in the process of removing the bumper,
my DVD manual arrived with complete instructions.

But, as I was in the middle of removing the bumper, I thought the
Fed Ex person said they were dropping off a survey?
wtf.

IMHO combining multiple thread of worthless BS = worthless BS.
I understand you are trying to make things easier, but now I understand wtf
ed was talking about in his official official thread.

Yeh, I could post a nice DIY here, now that the bumper is off the car,
and just as I finish my MBZ 203 chassis DVD owners manual arrives with step by step instructions, which I have now printed to pdf.

But posting here would be a waste. I'd be on post 36 or 37, and people are still forced to read through a lot of meaningless bs to figger out if anything is of value.
Except now, instead of determining if individual threads have value, lets just combine ALL the useless f'ing threads, and force people to wade through it all, till they find something, if their lucky.

BTW, as a side note, there's an interesting article about installing a trailer hitch in the coupe on the DVD. Bolts to the bumper, thats under the cover,
or rather the retrofitted bumper with fittings for the hitch.
All thats missing is part numbers. Sheeee-it.
Get me a little trailer just big enough to sleep in, and paint it Orion Blue beee-otch.

Sorry if I'm being a beeetch. I'm just in a mood I guess.
The bumper was PIA to get off, and with the warm weather, comes
bugs. Lots of Bugs. Little inch worms crawling all the f over me.
I got my cold margie now, I'll be ok.

At some point, I may have to actually think about getting another job?
Ah, but for now...it's just another sheety day in paradise.
Seriously. Well, a hotty to fix me my drink would improve things, and I still have to take the old bumper apart, and attach all the trim pieces to the new one so they'll all get painted at the same time.
Much of it riveted. **** me off.

there's a little button above each thread titled:

should the appropriate information be posted in a thread, then it would easily be found.

Thanks for sharing and making MBWorld a better place to search !

Sorry the video is gone from my website on bumper removal, here it is on youtube, same one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzvyVb6oyx0

BTW, there are no rivets holding the bumper on, just those nasty plastic plugs you pull out and the #20 torx screws. I have real instructions somewhere on my website for the coupe, the sedan should be similar.

You think?
See if you can make any sense out of this pdf.
I did without removing the metal bumper...
they do it with removing it.

Maybe that would make it easier to put on.

I checked yer website...didn't see anything.
Nice pics of your old coupey though.
Looks like you're getting quite good at Flash.

There are rivets holding trim pieces to the bumper cover.
The new bumper cover came with new rivets, and other bits of
hardware, like those plastic 2 piece round clippy things.
I'm putting the bumper together so they can paint everything new.

Ah. THAT video. I've seen others like it.
More than one way to remove a bumper.
