Service A in Southern California
It's time for service A at just under 59K miles, and I don't plan to do it myself ( sprained thumb, am essentially one-handed for a few weeks. ) I hear that prices can vary widely.
I travel for business in southern California, so SD, Orange, LA counties are all equally convenient.
Any recommendations? What did you pay, and where in S Cal?
Thanks.

Those prices are very attractive. Everyone hassled me over the horrendously expensive maintanence costs for german cars. Those numbers are less than I paid on my damn celica for her routine checkups.
Oh...this is in northern CA but Smother's European A service $190

Check with Mercedes-Benz of San Diego (MBSD), Hoehn Mercedes in Carlsbad, and Mercedes-Benz of Escondido, because they regularly have specials on Service A. I've seen as low as $90. They send coupons out every once in a while. Plus you get a loaner MB, pastries & drinks, and car wash ! I think normally they go somewhere in between $120 - $140.
I really don't know, because I'm still under 50k miles, and all my Service A & B has been Free!

yeah, kinda of an inconvenience, when you don't know your Service Advisor.
The one I had gone to for 2+ years was gone, and this guy turned out to be a moron. Now I have the name of a "good" SA at MBSD, so that shouldn't happen again.
But now in actuality, it turns out to be a good thing, since I'm going to get a stock Dyno, then pulleys, headers, ignition wires & other goodies, before sending the RENNtech ECU in for flashing again. Should add a bunch of ponies under the hood on my 3.2L V6.

There's NO reason to re-flash your ECU at a SERVICE A or B,
unless there's something suspect in their checks/repairs that the Tech has to go in and reset the ECU. Although this was not the case in my circumstance, it is possible that it could happen. That's why I imply that you should really know your Service Advisor so to avoid any inconvenience such as this.

I was going to suggest RAB Motors as well. They usually are one to have fair prices, especially when you let them know you're educated on what others are offering.

Startech
I just had my FSS B done at Startech by recommendation of a coworker up near Industry/Walnut. It's located next to the Personal Storage on Walnut (right after it changes from being Gale) just off Nogales. Google it for the address.
They do pretty much everything the same, they're fast, and they use OEM filters, etc. The manager's name is Terry and the owner's name is Sam. Pricing isn't the best, but $219 for Service B is pretty fair. I think I might hit up Laguna Hills next time.
House of Imports seems to be a little too high. Bill Chow, one of the service advisors there, quoted me $289 all-in. I guess the extra $70 pays for your coffee, car wash, snacks, and cable TV in the waiting room.

I dug this up somewhere. I think it was over in Benzworld.
I should start a Mercedes service center. If I could charge $200 and $400+ for these kinds of services, why even sale the damn cars? Dealerships make money on selling services anyway. There is no profit in new car sales. You could do this no-handed. The 'B' service is a bit more, but nothing a Saturday morning wouldn't take care of. These are just inspections.....notice if it needs replacement it costs more. Herr Beck's Autowerke is now open. I'll put some good looking certificate things on the wall, charge $150 for an 'A' Service (the oil change is $50 doing by yourself anyway) and wear a nice jumpsuit to perform all the maintenance. Maybe wear a ski mask as well, since technically I am robbing people!

yah, I just check the mercedes website as well, I think I will just start doing oil change only, since I can do most of other stuff myself, prob could do oil change myself as well, but they also do the safety inspection when doing oil change, and since i still have warranty, might as well let them check it
